Mary Jane Burke,
Marin County
Superintendent of Schools,
says:

'PTA gives a voice to parents and families. At a time when advocacy for education is more important than ever, PTA is a respected, credible and effective statewide organization that speaks on behalf of all students and families.'

Consider sharing this quote when promoting PTA membership.

Membership powers the voice of the PTA when we speak up for all children.

In these tough economic times, your PTA's voice is needed more than ever to protect the priorities of children and families. There are more than 9 million children in California who need us to keep speaking up - not just at the beginning of the school year but all year long.

Encouraging people to join your PTA gives your association a greater opportunity to make a real difference. Be sure to let prospective members know about our advocacy efforts, our Legislative Alerts, and the upcoming 2011 Legislation Conference.
End of the year is not the end of the campaign
The winter break and the end of the year present opportunities for keeping your membership campaign going strong. Here are a few ideas.
  • Host an after-school gathering for families to share their cultural traditions and foods. It's a great way to foster community and reach out to everyone.
  • Line up a local photographer to take family photos while you share information about the value of joining PTA.
  • Start planning now for opportunities to promote membership in the new year, including a commitment to host a PTA table with membership brochures at every school function.

Find out more about ways to boost your membership campaign and make it a year-round effort with this Membership Development Calendar.
