The California State PTA wishes to thank all those who serve our country and their families.
On this Veterans Day we want to highlight ways that PTA works to help our military families, as part of our dedication to promoting the well-being of all children and families.
Find out about the National PTA's Military Alliance for Parents and Partners (MAPP). The alliance brings together several groups to provide resources to - and advocate for - military families. The alliance also identifies and addresses the challenging social and educational challenges that these families face due to issues of deployment and mobility, among others.
One of PTA's MAPP partners, the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC), offers trainings to PTA members to help children make school transitions while meeting their social and emotional needs. There is no registration fee for these trainings, which are conducted all over the country. To find the current list and registration information, click here.
Upcoming trainings scheduled in California include "Living in the New Normal: Helping Children Thrive Through Good and Challenging Times," to be held in Modesto on Nov. 15 and 16, and in Twenty-Nine Palms on Dec. 7; and "Transition Counselor Institute - Phase One" (all adults are considered potential "counselors") to be held in Carlsbad on Dec. 1 and 2.
We hope these resources will help you in your work to support our military families.
