October is membership month! Encourage school and community members to join now for children's success all year long. For more ideas and resources, check out the California State PTA Value of PTA Membership, The Membership Step by Step Guide and National PTA's Year-Round Membership Marketing Templates and Tools. Invite teachers to join as welcome partners. Take advantage of the PTA's continuing education grants available to teachers, counselors and school nurses. Members add strength to PTA's voice when our volunteers speak up for children, families and schools, in Sacramento and in Washington, D.C. Remember to send per capita in promptly. Also, print membership cards easily with Just Between Friends. Visit LearnJBF.com. Please tell us about any membership strategies that have worked for your PTA. Click here to send us an e-mail. |

Be better prepared to file next year's tax forms
Tax filings are due 4½ months after your fiscal year ends. For PTAs that have a July 1-June 30 year, that date is Nov. 15. To help support your PTA in filing next year's forms, California State PTA has developed a new financial software package to manage PTA finances, including tax tracking and unit reports with PTAEZ. It is a web-based application tailored to the needs of - and available exclusively to - PTAs in California for a low annual subscription rate.
