Join PTA today to make tomorrow brighter for children
Why join?

Tony Moore is vice president for communications for Fifth District PTA (San Bernardino County), a father of three, and a law enforcement officer. He says:

'I believe that it is every adult's inherent responsibility to ensure that all children succeed. I know that my involvement today, no matter how big or small, ensures endless possibilities for millions of children tomorrow.'

Consider sharing this quote with all those who care about children when you ask them to join your PTA.

Members add strength to PTA's voice when we speak up for children in local school districts, in Sacramento and in Washington, D.C.

As the largest and oldest children's advocacy association in the nation, PTA is in a unique position to promote the well-being of all children through supportive laws and policies.

  • PTA is the only parent group that is part of the statewide Education Coalition, which works to ensure adequate school funding in California.
  • PTA members advocate for children and youth at all levels of government and in all areas, from education to safety and health. And PTA supports its members with training and other resources so they can become skilled advocates for their own children and for all children.
  • Our membership reaches far and wide to include grandparents, business leaders, and all those who care about the children and youth of their communities.

  • Every member can be an advocate
Every time you speak to school staff about your child or issues at school, you are an advocate. Here are a few ways California State PTA can help to hone your advocacy skills.

    • Sign up for California State PTA Legislative Alerts here.
    • Start here to learn more about PTA's advocacy efforts.
    • Save the date: Feb. 7 and 8 to attend the California State PTA 2011 Legislation Conference in Sacramento.
