Grants available
Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation is offering grants between $2,000 and $5,000 to school parent groups. The website says the grants are for basic, one-time project needs. Grant evaluators are looking for ways to help schools "through these challenging times efficiently and with the greatest impact," and emphasize basic needs will take priority. The deadline for the Toolbox for Education grants is October 15. Click here. The Target Field Trip Grants program is accepting applications until September 30 for 5,000 grants of $700 each to schools for the upcoming school year. For information, click here. The Walmart Store and Sam's Club Giving program provides grants to local nonprofit associations and schools that are working to create opportunities to improve the lives of individuals in our communities. Organizations that meet the eligibility requirements for these programs (described at http://walmartstores.com/CommunityGiving/9628.aspx) can request an application at their local Walmart Store or Sam's Club. Applications for the Walmart Store and Sam's Club Giving Programs are accepted February 1 through December 31. Grants are awarded. More information can also be obtained through the Foundation hotline at 1(800) 530-9925. |
| LEGOLAND Coupons
As you know, PTAs can order coupons to distribute to their members for one FREE ticket to LEGOLAND with a full-price paid admission. When the coupons were sent out this summer, some of the schools were closed and the coupons were returned to LEGOLAND. If your school hasn't received its coupons, please re-request them at www.legoland.com/pta.

Core PTA Values
■ Every adult has a responsibility to ensure that all
children develop to their full potential.
■ Parents are children's first teachers and that parent
involvement is essential throughout a child's educational experience.
■ Family is the basic unit of society responsible for
the support and nurturing of all children, and we recognize that "the
family" may be defined in many ways.
■ Our responsibility includes advocating for the safety
and welfare of all children and the opportunity for a quality public education
for each child. |
