What can one PTA unit do to protect education?
A lot -- when its members produce a video that goes viral
The community of Wonderland Avenue Elementary school in the Los Angeles area has been feeling battered by budget cuts to education. So PTA parents at the school gave their concerns the Hollywood treatment, by producing a video that has gone viral.

Their video, titled "Hot for Teachers" and starring bona fide stars Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green ("Beverly Hills, 90210"), registered more than 500,000 hits within 24 hours of its release on Wednesday. It has also engendered extensive news-media coverage and even provoked a comment from the Governor's spokesman.

Teri Levy, president of the school's PTA, came up with the idea of creating a video to be posted on Funny or Die, a comedy video website. Other PTA members at the school, including John Koch, Ari Posner, Stacey Attanasio Gonsalves and Steve Levy wrote, produced and supported the production. Brian Austin Green, the star of the show along with actor Megan Fox, is another PTA parent at the school.

The Governor's spokesman Aaron McLear claimed the budget numbers in the video were wrong, but members of the Education Coalition, including the PTA, defend those numbers.
