Members count in PTA!

Membership is an opportunity! Working for change within your school community empowers members and creates a network of active parents. PTA members can rely on a range of support, from publications to trainings. For more on the benefits of membership, click here.

Membership is strength! When California State PTA members knock on a lawmaker's door, nearly 1 million voters stand with them. We are the premier volunteer organization working on behalf of children and families in the state. To learn more about how PTAs help schools, click here.

Membership campaigns are a great way to publicize the amazing things your PTA does and to get more people involved!  For tips, tools and terrific ideas for membership chairs, click here.

Please make sure each of your members receives a current PTA membership card, which includes the username and password to access the "members-only" part of the National PTA website, www.pta.org.  Last year's password will expire October 31.

The basics: PTAs and PTSAs keep the unit portion of membership dues and send on the rest to the council treasurer if in a council, or to the district treasurer if out-of-council. To remain in good standing, your PTA's memberships must be received from districts by state PTA by December 1 and monthly thereafter.

We've got you covered
You really can't beat the insurance available through PTA. California State PTA provides Comprehensive General Liability coverage with a $1,000,000 limit that covers all unit, council and district PTAs in the state when involved in allowable PTA activities. Generally, you'd have to pay four or even  five times as much for comparable coverage elsewhere. Click here for more information.

For the next insurance year, starting Jan. 5, 2010, the annual  rates will be as follows.

$202 for units
$120 for councils and district
