Join Our Mailing List
Plan Now for a Great Membership Year!

Membership is everyone's responsibility! All members of the PTA executive board should have input in developing the membership campaign - a year-long effort to expand and broaden your membership.

Invite everyone to join! Anyone who is interested in, and supports PTA, can be a member. Just ask! Invite students. Students can be members in a PTA as well as a PTSA.

Publicize your PTA programs. "Our PTA supports students!"  Share the benefits of belonging to the premier national organization advocating for children and youth.

Check out Guidelines for a Welcoming and Informative Invitation Letter, which is available in English and Spanish, and see if your PTA's invitation letter can be included in the school's welcome packet.

Create special invitations for those who don't usually join your PTA, and whom you want to include this year!  Plan your campaign with the Membership Development Calendar and the Checklist: Your Back-To-School Membership Drive.

Term End Audits

An audit of the financial records by the elected or appointed auditor or by an audit committee assures the membership that the association's resources and funds are being managed as authorized in the minutes and within budget limitations.

Complete the audit as quickly as possible. Find the instructions to perform an audit in the finance section of the Toolkit and in the job description for auditor in the Job Descriptions section of the Toolkit. Use the Audit Report Form and Audit Checklist included in the Forms section of the Toolkit. The checklist is your roadmap to a successful audit. There should be a recommendation for each "NO" on the checklist. Work with your Council/District PTA if there is a problem with a timely completion of the audit.
Do You Know Who Your Legislators Are?

Consider calling the district offices of your legislative representatives to set up appointments to meet with them and talk to them about what's going on in your school, as well as the current challenges due to the state budget situation.

Find your legislators' contact information here.
