Welcome to Rutiz Farms HAPPENINGS ON THE FARM .
This past weekends rain took a toll on the ripening strawberries in our field (over half of the ripe berries on the plants will be left in the field due to rotten spots)...but the ones we do pick this Friday will still taste good, but just plan on eating them within a couple days...their shelf life won't be very long. This is a prime example of how the extensive use of fungicides on "conventionally" grown berries keep them from going rotten after a rainfall...but that's not how we do things on our farm!
The stand is now open until 6pm each Tuesday and Friday. We should start opening on Saturdays on April 6...the day before Easter...hopefully we will have plenty of strawberries by then...depends on the weather.
