FALL HAS ARRIVED...
THE STATE FAIR, TOO!
The State Fair of Texas - Sept. 24 thru Oct. 18  
Fall came our way on Tuesday the 22nd at 4:18. That could only mean one thing... the State Fair of Texas has opened.
 
Grand opening ceremonies were held today and the fair will run thru Sunday, October 18th. As far as a rotating entertainment schedule goes, nothing beats the scope of acts sponsored by the Texas Cultural Partnership.  The TCP will be showcasing an astonishing 59 ethnic and cultural dance groups in almost 160 performances in front of the Hall of State during the State Fair of Texas.
 
Entertainment this year includes Jason Castro, 38 special, En Vogue, Commodores and more. Your complete State Fair guide can be found online at:

Ride Out to Fight AIDS on Our New Figure 8 Route - Two Great Days of Riding from One Central Location. Lone Star Ride is a two-day, 165-mile cycling adventure through scenic suburban and country roads winding through and around Dallas/Fort Worth. Lone Star Ride's goal is to raise money to fight AIDS and support those affected by HIV/AIDS. For both riders and crew members, it's a great way to meet new friends and have a lot of fun while supporting a serious cause. With hilarious pit stops, an evening party and live entertainment, it's an unforgettable experience.

The Women's Chorus of Dallas invites you to Stars in the Backyard, a showcase at Jack's Backyard  on September 26, 2009 beginning at 8PM.  A $5 cover charge will benefit AIDS Lifewalk.  Stars in the Backyard will feature special guest Anton Shaw as well as other local talent singing throughout the evening, plus guests who've always wanted to take the stage can donate $25 to the cause and perform!  Sing, dance, perform stand-up, or a "stupid human trick" of your choice.  Email twcdoffice@twcd.org or call 214-520-7828 to sign up to share your talent.

Oak Lawn United Methodist Church invites you to the 135th Anniversary Celebration Sunday. Worship that day will be led by the North Texas Conference Bishop of the United Methodist Church, Bishop W. Earl Bledsoe.  The weekend celebrations will begin with an Art Show open to all in the Fellowship Hall of Oak Lawn United Methodist Church.  The Art Show will be available Friday, Sept. 25 from 12p - 5 p, Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10a - 5p, and Sunday, Sept. 27 from 8a -  2p.  3014 Oak Lawn Avenue, at the corner of Cedar Springs and Oak Lawn.

A portion of all proceeds will be donated to DIFFA, Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS.  Proceeds from this opening night along with all future sales will be donated on a monthly basis. Champagne & Hors D'oeuvres will be provided. Featuring works from Kathy Kromer's La casa de Corazon. Kathy's use of bold color is her trademark, which is evident in all of her pieces.  Talli Blue is a Domestic Short Hair female that is spayed. She weighs about 8 lbs. and is Dilute Torti in color. She is about 2 years old. His reason for surrender: Hasn't bonded with husband.
 
"I am a super special 2 year old spayed female Dilute Torti. I am a quiet young lady who likes to be around quiet older people. I had trouble getting along with my owners new husband, BUT that doesn't me I wouldn't get along with your man. I love to be talked to and loved on. PLEASE come by and we will both live happily ever after."
