Oak Lawn Newsletter - Friday, August 28
Greetings!
NEW TRAFFIC LAWS IN EFFECT SEPTEMBER 1 IN TEXAS

Oak Lawn has a lot of School Zones and a lot of people on cell phones. Among the new laws that go into effect on September 1, please note these two important changes:
HB 537 requires all occupants of a vehicle, no matter their age, to be secured by a safety belt, no matter where they are seated in the vehicle. - That means EVERYONE must wear a seat belt.
HB 55 makes it illegal to use a wireless communication device in a school zone unless the vehicle is stopped or a hands-free device is used. - This one means NO HAND-HELD CELL PHONES IN SCHOOL ZONES.
To view all the new traffic laws, visit the TX DPS web site.
