SALES TAX HOLIDAY / TAX FREE WEEKEND
August 21 - 23
According to the State Comptroller's web site, Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on August 21, 22 and 23 - the state's annual tax holiday. Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday. As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing and footwear priced under $100 from sales taxe.
Effective this year, in addition to clothes, footwear and some backpacks, Texas families also get a sales tax break on most school supplies priced at less than $100 purchased for use by a student in an elementary or secondary school.

VOICE OF PRIDE CHOSES WINNERS Finals held

The Dallas Tavern Guild's Voice of Pride competition held the Finals this past Sunday night in The Rose Room in S4. The talent was exceptional this year.
This year's winners are (pictured left to right): Mel Arizpe: 4th Runner-Up, Michael Gasparro: Winner, Juliana Jeffery: 1st Runner-Up, Greg Castillo: 2nd Runner-Up, Robert Olivas: 3rd Runner-Up.

DFW Humane Society 
Grace is a Hound mix female that is spayed. She weighs about 35 lbs. and is tri-color. She is about 2 years old. Her reason for surrender: Rescued from another shelter. I am a sweet little Hound mix girl who is around 2 years of age. I was hit by a car and hurt my leg. I love people and look forward to meeting you!
Grace had her surgery to repair her dislocated hip, has recovered from her surgery and is ready for adoption.
