HAPPY MARDI GRAS
 
Mardi Gras week is always fun. The excitement begins this Saturday with Gay Bingo in the afternoon then the annual Carnivale IV on Saturday night. Get out your beads and head down to the strip with your "Show Me Something, Mister" attitude in full force. The party atmosphere in Oak Lawn lasts all the way thru Tuesday.... that's 'Fat Tuesday' or Mardi Gras. Most all local venues will be hosting Mardi Gras parties with beads, drink specials and entertainment. There is even a Crawfish Boil at the Round-Up.
 
By the way, Happy 20th Anniversary to the Round-Up Saloon.
 
The Oscars - Sunday, Feb. 22
 
 
 
 

 
 
 
 
 
Sunday night is the Oscars and many local clubs will be showing the celebrity event. Will the top honors go to Doubt, Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk or the fan-fav Slumdog Millionaire? Join your friends out on the strip as the winners are announced throughout the evening.

Turtle Creek Chorale proudly presents THE KING'S SINGERS tonight at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road in Dallas. Tickets are $40-$60.
 
Founded in 1968 by six choral scholars from King's College in Cambridge, England, The King's Singers quickly became a prominent musical force in the United Kingdom.
 
The rest of the world soon followed so that today the group's engagements are spread throughout the four corners of the globe. One of today's most famous a cappella vocal ensembles, The King's Singers, perform a repertoire spanning medieval to Renaissance, romantic to contemporary, folk and pop.

Gaybingo is every third Saturday (except December) in The Rose Room at S4, 3911 Cedar Springs, Dallas 75219 -- in the heart of Oak Lawn. Doors open at 5PM. Games start at 6PM. Pre-sold tickets get first entry when the doors open. You must be 21+ to attend to Gaybingo. This month's theme: Bourbon Street Gaybingo. It's a celebration, it's a fair, it's Carnivale!

The Texas Gay Rodeo Association is pleased to announce Cowtown Rodeo 2009 - a weekend filled with exciting rode performances, entertainment, great music, and dancing. The weekend begins 9:00 PM Friday night, February27 at Best Friends Club with a Welcome Back to Cowtown Rodeo show hosted by TGRA state royalty.
  
On Saturday the excitement moves to the W.R. Watt Arena, part of the Will Rogers Exposition where over 150 contestants from around the country compete in 13 rodeo events. Contestants prizes along with championship buckles. The rodeo events start at 8:30 AM in the main arena.
  
Sunday continues with more rodeo events following the same schedule, including Grand Entry, the "Cowtown Rodeo Market", and entertainment. The weekend concludes with an award ceremony starting at 8:00 PM in the W.R. Watt Arena's Centennial Room. Ticket prices for the rodeo performances on Saturday and Sunday is $15.00 per day.

South Plains Leatherfest-International Master/slave Weekend. This year, South Plains celebrates its 10th Anniversary - so you know that means it will be the best South Plains yet! Event held at Dallas Eagle, 2515 Inwood Rd., #107 with the Radisson Hotel & Suties being the host hotel. Final Registration is $149 and will be available from February 17 through the event.

It's not too early to mark your calendar for the next First Wednesday. March 4th is the date for this monthly event featuring sales and specials from the merchants along the Cedar Springs strip. Hot models, wine tasting, street vendors and entertainment add to the excitement every month.
The March theme is "Shamrock Shuffle". Visit participating retailers to collect a Shamrock and enter in to the grand prize gift basket giveaway. The more Shamrocks, the better your chance to win. Plus, the Voice of Pride Preview live on the main stage.
    
In March, the Cedar Springs Merchants have added another affair that you will certainly want to attend. The Cedar Springs Beautification Benefit & Gala will be held on Friday, March 20th beginning at 5:00 pm at the Round-Up Saloon. It will include a live and silent auction for fabulous merchandise, trips, meals, wine and much more. Plus, a live model underwear auction during the event. VIP table reservations are available. UCAGH at FIRST WEDNESDAY United Community Against Gay Hate

United Community Against Gay Hate will be hosting a booth on the First Wednesday in March with the Northwest Division Police Dept. along with other city and community leaders to re-introduce the Northwest Division police Dept. in the community to help rebuild the relationship with business owners, residents and patrons who want to acclimate themselves in the community.
 
This is one step we are taking to make it safer when we all come here to entertain, shop, and eat. The police efforts can make the community a much safer place for us all.

Leticia is a Chow Mix female that is not spayed. She is about 6 weeks old weighing in at 6 lbs. Her color is black and reason for surrender: found as a stray.
 
 Leticia is very sweet and friendly. Please help find this loveable little one a nice home.
