Oak Lawn Newsletter - Friday, Feb. 06
Greetings!
ONLY ONE WEEK UNTIL VALENTINE'S
Just a freindly reminder... It's only one week until Valentine's Day and don't forget to order that special gift for that special someone.
Many Dallasites did their "Sweety" shopping this past Wednesday night at First Wednesday on Cedar Springs. The merchants on the strip offered up great bargains for Valentine gifts. Along with all those great gift ideas was some nice "eye candy" as you can see below. Several retailers were offering more than bargains. We enjoyed Margaritas, Wine and sweets as we did our shopping. If you missed it, there is still time. Many sales are still going on along the strip.

FLU SYMPTOMS ON THE RISE
Dallas County
It appears that flu symptoms are on the rise in Dallas County. Parkland Hospital is reporting a spike in visits from those with the symptoms. Although they do not appear to be serious, it is raising concern. It appears that most cases are a respiratory virus with some actually testing positive for influenza.
You can still get a flu shot, and authorities say it's not too late. Check with Kroger, Walgreens or your physician.

Pet of the Week
DFW
Humane Society
HI, my name is Godiva and I am a female Pitt mix and weigh about 65 pounds and am a brindle and white coated girl. I am an energetic, very affectionate, and such a very smart and beautiful puppy. I love to play with the other shelter dogs. I have been on outings to the PetsMart mobile adoption and had a great time meeting all the people and their pets and the volunteers said I behaved very, very well. The little kids came up to me and I was very gentle with them while they petted me. One of the volunteers bought me a beautiful purple harness with a leash to match and I looked and felt very proud. I went to another event in Colleyville and I got attention from so many people and loved every minute of that day. One of my pal volunteers was showing off to the people how sweet I can be to the kids and grownups.
I am so wanting A HOME AND FAMILY of my very own to love and play with me. PLEASE give me a chance and take me with you and be my family. I will be a large dog but I have a large amount of love to give to you. If you can adopt Godiva and give her a good home, please contact the DFW Humane Society at 972-253-3333, or check out one of the many other pets that need a home by visiting their web site.
