Oak Lawn Newsletter - Friday, Jan. 09

Greetings!

WELCOME TO A NEW YEAR

It's a new year that brings us hope. Mark your calendar for January 20th when we celebrate the inauguration of President Obama. You are invited to celebrate with your friends up and down Cedar Springs Road as the merchants, restaurants and clubs will be hosting an Inauguration watch party throughout the day and night.

If you missed this past First Wednesday, there was some great fun and bargains along the street with the "Texas Hold'em Crawl." Congratulations to Keith for garnering the best hand and winning the merchant Gift Basket. The next First Wednesday is February 4th.

THE WOMEN'S CHORUS OF DALLAS The Women's Chorus of Dallas - Open Rehearsals
Holding Open Rehearsals
Wednesday, Jan. 21, 28

The Women's Chorus of Dallas invites women singers to an open rehearsal on January 21 and January 28, 2009 at 7PM.

The Women's Chorus of Dallas is a volunteer community chorus comprised of approximately 55 singers ranging in skill from novice to professional.  The Chorus' repertoire includes classical through pop that is sung at 3 ticketed concerts and several community events each year.  Our next concert will be held on April 29 with an encore performance on a performance cruise in late June 2009.

Open rehearsals will be held on Monday, January 21 and 28 promptly at 7PM at the Sammons Center for the Arts. Sit in on rehearsal, meet with the other members of TWCD and learn about becoming a member. Prior experience and music reading are not required. What is required is a desire to have a great time creating beautiful music for your own enjoyment and to share with our audience.

The Women's Chorus of Dallas offers women an opportunity sing the classical choral repertoire as well as popular music and other genres. We currently have 55 singers, give three concerts a season and sing at many community events.  The chorus performs in support of and raises funds for Breast Cancer and AIDS awareness, Domestic Violence Shelters, and many other worthwhile causes.
