As you know, this year's election is probably the most important in our lifetime. Make sure your voice is heard. If you are not registered to vote (or not sure if you are registered) visit www.votexas.org and register. Monday is the last day for registration to be eligible to vote in the November 4th elections.

THE WOMEN'S CHORUS OF DALLAS 20th SEASON
"Season of Celebration"
The Women's Chorus of Dallas is proud to present our 20th Season - "Season of Celebration."
The Chorus will kick-off the Season with a Homecoming Weekend on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11. Past members and supporters are invited to join us on Friday evening for seeing old friends and remembering old times. Saturday evening will feature "Commemoration", an Anniversary Party featuring live music from The Women's Chorus of Dallas including several old favorites with past singing members joining in on the fun! Of course, an Anniversary Party would not be complete without a guest appearance from The Turtle Creek Chorale!
Join us on Saturday, October 11 at 8:00 PM at the Cathedral of Hope. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets may be purchased online at www.twcd.org or by calling 214-520-7828.

The Women's Chorus of Dallas is also pleased to be presenting "Jubilation" on Sunday, December 14 at 2PM and "Nomination" on Saturday, April 25 at 7PM.

STATE FAIR OF TEXAS

Big Tex says "Howdy Folks!" Yes, it's time for the State Fair of Texas. The fairgrounds open today and the festivitives run thru October 19th. This year, the entertainment includes the Nerveless Nocks Daredevil Stunt Show, Rodney Atkins, Jessica Simpson, Bell Biv DeVoe and the return of 'Illumination Senstaion', the spectacular light show in the Esplanade reflecting pool (nightly at 8:00 pm).
The Prairie View/Grambling State Fair Classic is Saturday, October 4th (6:00 pm) and the TX/OU Red River Rivaly is the following Saturday, October 11th at 11:00 am. The State Fair exhibit buildings open daily at 10:00 am and close at 10:00 pm Fri-Mon and at 9:00 pm Tues-Thurs. Midway opening and closing hours vary. Dallas Southern Pride is a weekend event fearturing workshops, seminars and parties. This year's theme is "A Taste of Dallas". Dallas Southern Pride's mission is to build awareness of pride in the Same Gender Loving (SGL)/ Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) community of color. Also, to create a funding source and support for organizations which are addressing health, educational, and economic issues adversely affecting our community. The event is held at the Sterling Hotel Dallas and various venues around town. VIP Membership will allow you FREE entry into all Parties without having to wait in line, and DSP VIP Private Suite in host HOTEL!!!

Low Cost Pet Vaccination

Is it time to take your pet to the vet for their annual checkup. This Saturday, Vaccination Station of Dallas will holding it's monthly Low Cost Clinic at Elliott's Hardware on Maple Avenue. Rabies and all other vaccinations for dogs and cats will be available along with heartworm testing for dogs and heartworm prevention for dogs and cats. Plus, Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control as well as Revolution will be available at reduced rates. The clinic will offer free engraving of owner's phone number on back of rabies tag. |
LIFE WALK
Sunday, Oct.5 Lee Park 12:00 Noon
LifeWalk begins Sunday, October 5th at 12 noon at Lee Park and is a family- and pet-friendly event benefitting AIDS Arms, Inc. to raise AIDS awareness and funds to help HIV+ men, women and children in North Texas. LifeWalk is a 3.2 mile walk through Dallas' scenic Turtle Creek and Uptown. To date LifeWalk has raised and distributed more than $7 million for AIDS services throughout the Dallas community. The Rivalry continues. At 11 a.m. on October 11, the Red River Rivalry kicks off a game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl at the State Fair of Texas. Most local clubs and sports restaurants in Oak Lawn host watch parties for the TX/OU game. Check with your favorite venue.

LATINO ART SHOW & BLOCK PARTY

As part of our Hispanic Heritage Month Events, Valiente DFW- LGBT Latino/a Alliance invites you to join us in the heart of Oak Cliff for our Latino Art Show & Block Party. DALLAS INVITATIONAL COLUMBUS DAY TOURNAMENT

The Dallas Invitational Columbus Day Tournament (DICDT) invites you to join us for our annual bowling tournament October 10-12, in Dallas (Irving), Texas. DICDT features a host of events for mixed skill levels, including a co-ed handicapped competition (by invitation only) during the tournament. The tournament is officially sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC), and DICDT is a proud member of the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO). All USBC rules apply, except as noted in the tournament rules.
Founded 26 years ago, DICDT is a philanthropic bowling tournament and fundraising club. The DICDT team mobilizes each year to host events which cover the costs associated with producing the annual tournament, including awards and prizes. Additionally, DICDT grants funds to local gay/lesbian/transgendered service and education programs. The DICDT committee has not yet announced the 2008 beneficiaries. DICDT web site |

Niles is a neutered Boston Terrier Male who is 11 years old and he weighs 23 lbs. He is black and white and was surrendered due to the owners lifestyle change. Niles is very sweet and loving. He is housebroken, good with kids and other pets.
