First Wednesday on Cedar Springs
 
Wednesday evening will bring us another edition of First Wednesday on Cedar Springs from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. You can participate in the Cedar Springs Scavenger hunt for fabulous prizes. Shop all the merchants on the street for great bargains and specials. Many of the local retailers will also have wine tasting events and other special perks. There will be tons of Sales, specials and give aways. Recent winners from the Dallas Tavern Guild Voice of Pride competition will be performing on the main stage in front of the old Sue Ellen's. Plus, this month will feature the Big Drawing for the San Francisco Vacation and $1000 Cedar Springs Shopping Spree. Find out all about the big drawing at the booth in front of Buli Cafe.

Dallas police recover stolen goods tied to Uptown burglaries

Dallas police announced the recovery of tens of thousands of dollars in stolen goods tied to a string of more than 30 recent burglaries in the Uptown area and other cities.
 
Officials stood before piles of electronics, power tools, golf clubs, CDs, DVDs, overcoats, lingerie, hand bags and shoes as they spoke about a continuing investigation blown wide open with the search of two Oak Lawn-area apartments Wednesday night.
 
This break in the case follows the arrests of two suspects in two weeks: Dustin Kienzlen, 33, of Hurst was taken into custody last week, and Damon Joseph West, 32, of Dallas was arrested Wednesday.

But how do I go about it? Well we have the answer for you below. The Dallas Independent Volleyball Association has provided almost 20 year's of indoor volleyball to the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. Come out and join DIVA for the upcoming Fall '08 new member clinics.

Is it time to take your pet to the vet for their annual checkup. This Saturday, Vaccination Station of Dallas will holding it's monthly Low Cost Clinic at Elliott's Hardware on Maple Avenue. Rabies and all other vaccinations for dogs and cats will be available along with heartworm testing for dogs and heartworm prevention for dogs and cats. Plus, Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Control as well as Revolution will be available at reduced rates. The clinic will offer free engraving of owner's phone number on back of rabies tag.

TGRA (Texas Gay Rodeo Association) will be holding a fundraiser in the parking lot of the Resource Center (2701 Reagan St) on Saturday. Many household items will be on sale at the giant Tag Sale (like a Yard Sale). The proceeds will help to benefit the September 'Texas 25 Rodeo' in Austin.

The Women's Chorus of Dallas
to Hold Open Auditions

The Women's Chorus of Dallas
 
The Women's Chorus of Dallas will hold open rehearsals for women interested in joining the Chorus on Monday, August 11, Monday, August 18 and Monday, August 25 promptly at 6:45PM.   Interested singers are invited to sit in on a rehearsal, meet with the other members of The Women's Chorus of Dallas and learn more about becoming a member.  Interested guests are invited to audition on their second visit to the open rehearsals.
 
The Women's Chorus of Dallas offers women an opportunity sing the classical choral repertoire as well as popular music and other genres.  Prior experience or the ability to read music is not a requirement for membership. 
 
Current openings are available for both chorus members and soloists.  Regular season rehearsals are held every Monday from 7PM - 10PM at Sammons Center for the Arts.  Members are expected to attend every rehearsal.

Moo Moo is a domestic short hair male kitty about 3 months old weighing in at about 3 lbs. He is black and white and was found as a stray.
