May 16th: 25 Years of Marital Bliss
 | Click on the pic to see where Eric & Beth spent their 25th Anniversary |
Beth and I were able to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary a couple weeks ago. We took advantage of a special rate at the Donbas Palace, the first truly 5-Star hotel in Donetsk. We've never stayed at a 5-Star hotel before, and all I can say is... wow! That was nice. Find out how nice by clicking on the picture above.

Greetings!
Right now at this very moment, I'm sitting in on our church planting training session where 12 of our students are gathered for the next three days. My task is to coordinate and oversee. Each evening we will have a session we affectionately refer to as "Teaching in house slippers" which sounds better in Russian. These are informal settings of worship and testimony where a successful church planter shares his testimony and what he has learned about church planting. Sometimes these informal sessions don't end until midnight. We have had a busy return to the field with visitors from our mission, team meetings, a couple English club guest appearances, a mission's conference, continuous guests and most importantly, the celebrations surrounding our 25th Wedding Anniversary. In addition to all of the above, we've been putting in a bit of sweat equity at the church on the shelter. Most of our work is being done by volunteers and that means that I am working alongside of them. It is a great time of bonding with nationals who are putting hands and feet to their faith. Check the links on the left to catch up with a sampling of some of the things in which we have been involved. We really need your prayers, so as always, thanks for praying! Eric & Beth |
Prayer & Praise List
Prayer Needed:
- For the 12 church planting students that are currently studying and for the church planters that are teaching during this week of studies.
- For success in finishing the documentation process for the church on the shelter. A law has been passed to make the final document needed easier to obtain, yet there is no governmental mechanism for carrying out this new law... so, we wait.
- For God's provision of resources to finish the church on the shelter project.
- For Yura, our church planter's preparation to move to Donetsk this summer to partner with us in the ministry of church planting.
- For discovery of financial support (currently we are down about 9% overall) and for the spiritual and financial health of all our partnering churches.
Praise Offered:
- For individuals who are sacrificing their time and offering their expertise to help further the construction of the church on the shelter.
- For Charity's internship at WorldVenture this summer, where she is having a great time ministering to children of missionaries returning to the states..
- For a great time celebrating our Silver Anniversary.
- For God's grace in giving us really wonderful church partners in the states and in Ukraine..

No More Mac or Me Soon
We thoroughly enjoy our Mac computers and iPhones, but after I found out of Apple's financial support for the "No On Proposition 8" Campaign, I knew that things could not be the same for us. When they took the Manhattan Declaration App out of the iTunes store I made the decision to cancel our Apple MobileMe annual subscription. Apple probably won't miss our annual $150, but we will feel better knowing we are not contributing to a company that is taking a portion of our funds to promote the legalization of so-called homosexual marriage. Therefore, after June 27, the following addresses will no longer be in effect, so please check to see if you are using them: ericyodis@me.com ericyodis@mac.com bethyodis@me.com bethyodis@mac.comThe following addresses will remain in effect as always: ericyodis@worldventure.net bethyodis@worldventure.net
Thanks for making these changes. We don't want to lose contact with you or any of our friends.

Online Giving
| Give Timely: This year, I've been looking for a pair of summer walking shoes in Donetsk. In recent years, I have tried to purchase better quality shoes that I know will last 5 to 10 years and can be worn comfortably since we walk a lot here in Ukraine. The problem is, when my wife first told me I needed new shoes, I was too busy and couldn't be bothered. Now, that I am ready to buy the shoes, they have all been sold out in my size and simply aren't available.
Sometimes we give in the same way. God lays something on our hearts, but we are too busy to be bothered and by the time we are ready to give, God has used someone else to fill that need and the blessing of the gift is no longer available. Of course, we should never give in such haste that we haven't taken the time to give wisely, but when God lays something on your heart, get busy and proactively figure out what your response is going to be.
