This is an urgent prayer request.
Donetsk Christian University needs your prayers.

Greetings!

Usually I tell you about our ministry prayer needs, but today I was asked specifically to send a letter asking you to pray for the local Bible college that WorldVenture has partnered with since the school's inception more than 15 years ago.  Donetsk Christian University (DCU) has been instrumental in sending out numerous well-trained graduates throughout the former Soviet Union.

The Board of DCU will be meeting tomorrow (Monday, August 3) morning at 10 a.m. Ukrainian time (or 3 a.m. Pacific time).  Having received a proposal from a previous rector, the board has been vascillating back and forth on whether to install him as rector once again. Two weeks ago the decision was "No", but two days ago the decision was "yes".  Indeed, there seems to be some undue haste as evidenced by the last vote that was taken by email submission. Normally the internet is reserved for smaller matters.

We know that the board's decision will have a drastic effect on the school. At this point, we don't know whether that will be for the good or for the worse. So here are our suggestions on how to pray for DCU during their hour of need:

  • dcuPray for wisdom and courage for each of the eight board members and that they would be guided by a Holy Spirit led conscience.
  • Pray for transparency in the process, and that the politics of power and control would not find a foothold, but rather that the politics of grace and mercy pervade the meeting tomorrow.
  • Pray that any final decisions would be for the furtherance of the Gospel and for the glory of God.
That is the situation in a nutshell and though it doesn't sound complicated in this letter, it is because this is the extremely condensed version of the story. Trust me when I say... "This is a big deal" and we need your prayers. Time is of the essence, so please pray now!

As always, Thanks For Praying!
