Church on the Shelter Launch Group Greetings!

We took the picture above out of the airplane's window as we passed over the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco bay. It was a remarkably clear day and hundreds of small sail boats were taking advantage of the great sailing conditions.  We had flown back to the SF Bay area to meet up with Beth's folks and spend some time celebrating their 50th anniversary. It has been a great time of celebration and honoring them for their commitment to the Lord and to each other.

After the celebrations, we spent two weeks promoting the ministry and ministering in a variety of situations, and now we are starting to pack for our trip back to Ukraine. Though we are anxious to get back to our home in Donetsk, we are still two conferences away. When we have fulfilled all that needs to be done, we will be going back to Donetsk at the end of the month. Our train tickets await us in Kiev.

We continue to pray that God would bless our ministry partners so that they can continue to be generous in their giving to the church on the shelter. These are difficult times economically for a lot of people, yet it seems as though we are blessed the most when we give in the midst of hardship and even poverty. Though it all, we mostly want to say...

"Thanks for Praying!"
NEWS OF THE SHELTER First Phase of Bomb Shelter Church Construction

Progress is being made.
During the past month, the area of the shelter that is to be built on first (Phase One) has been cleared. Everything that could be burned, has been. Everything that couldn't/shouldn't be burned was hauled away.  We now have a cleared area to begin construction. In addition, our core group continues to meet and is still trying to begin an evangelistic Bible study. For more information, click on the picture above to view our ministry journal.

PRAISE & PRAYER
Beth and I continue to pray for safe travels through the end of the month (Nov). Join us in praying that the WorldVenture European leadership meetings will be a time of great learning and encouragement for everybody involved (including me and Beth) and for the Ukraine field as we meet together later on. The Ukraine field will be meeting with special speakers from the WorldVenture Polish field and with the WorldVenture European director. We hope that this is a time that we will learn more about how to help and build each other up on the field as well as take care of field business.

Lena (Oleg's wife) has come home from the hospital finally and is recovering in the house near us in Donetsk. Her husband has found permanent work in the area so that he can be instrumental in starting the church on the shelter.

Construction for the church on the shelter foundation is well underway. We are praising God for competent workers and a godly contractor. We are on track with budget and weather has been good for building.

In Closing,
Change is difficult even when the change is good. The dynamics of transition kick in and feelings of fear and instability make us feel threatened. Our prayer is that you will feel the peace of Christ through faith in Christ regardless of the changes that are taking place in your life or in your country.
