Art Auction
Date: March 30th
Location: AMP'd- Eastside Baptist Youth Center | |
Do any of you know artists? Artists from anywhere, not necessarily Fort Smith. We are looking for awesome art work to auction and sell at our auction. If you have any ideas for us, please contact the artists or give us their names!
An exciting "Thank you!" to those of you who have already signed up to sell or auction artwork at the Art Auction! It has been fun learning about your artistic abilities! We have both students and parents now signed up to sell and/or auction off art work to benefit our school!
We would love to have you or your children participate, as well, by donating any artwork you have created for both the silent and live auctions auctions.
Artwork may include: canvas artwork, photography, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, mixed media, or other creative work falling into the "art" category .
You may also request an area to sell your artwork! You take home 80% of the proceeds, and the school receives 20%!
For questions, call Van Magness 650-0197 Amy Tyler 806-7306 or Gina Clark 650-6868. |

from the Union Seniors...
This is several weeks late, but I cannot let another E News go by without personally thanking Johnny Carter for the Scream Concert to benefit our mission trip to Haiti. This concert raised over $1500 towards our trip! Thank you also to the parents who worked the night with us (a SPECIAL thank you to Steve and Tami Scott who provided Blazen Burrito, and to Charlotte Thomas who helped in coordinating the event). The musicians were just outstanding, and gave their time, talent, and heart for missions as they sacrificially donated it all for Haiti.
It goes without saying, Johnny Carter is a man Union cannot do without. As he drives our mission team to the Tulsa airport (at 1:30 in the morning!) March 11th, and returns for us late Sunday night the 18th, we want to say THANK YOU, Johnny. We love you.

Presidential Tea Party
by Union 4th Grade
4th Grade students and teachers at Union Elementary put together a Presidential Tea Party, filling an evening with memories for a lifetime. Launching the evening with Presidential Hall of Fame Tours through the Presidential Museum, guests experienced a variety of presentation mediums. A Wax Museum of Presidents and First Ladies came to life to share their historical significance with the press of a button for the evening's guests, Presidential fact QR codes could be scanned with smart phones, life size and accurately measured artworks were displayed of student's chosen Presidents and First Ladies, research reports, creative stories based in fact from the Presidents' and First Ladies' perspectives, and fact handouts gave the evening a fun filled, intellectual night chalked full of depth and complexity. Concluding the evening, students and parents played Presidential facts related games, and this video was used for one such game.

In order to receive weighted credit for the AP class, the student must take the exam. In most institutions, a score of 3 will award college credit. However, the student should check with their institution to see if there are any other criteria. The fee each exam is $87. This fee is due to Mrs. Chavis by March 5th. Make checks payable to Union Christian Academy and on the memo line name the test(s). These funds go directly to CollegeBoard for payment for the tests and scoring.
