Semester Testing For Grades 7 - 12, Fall 2011
December 15th and 16th are designated for semester tests. Tests will be taken in all classes on those two days, with periods 1-4 being tested on December 15 and periods 5-8 being tested on December 16.
Grades 7th - 8th: Exams will not cover material from the full semester. They will cover the same amount of material and will be weighted the same as a regular exam.
Grades 9th - 12th: Exams will cover the entire semester's worth of material. It will count as 20% of the semester grade. Please note: 9th - 12th grade classes only one academic quarter in length will only cover material from the quarter and will be weighted as a regular exam.
Students in grades 7th-12th with a 95% average+ in a class are exempt from the semester exam in that class, without regard to attendance. Students with between a 90 and 94.9% average in a class and no more than 3 absences for the semester in that class, will be exempt from that semester exam.
Students do not have to attend school until their first required exam of the day and may be released at the end of their last period in which they have a required exam. However, late-comers and early-dismissals will be required to sign in and out, respectively. Students who are exempt from an exam that falls between required exams will be required to stay at school and must attend the class from which they are exempt. Since they will not be testing, they should bring a book to read during that time.
Students will be required to stay in class the entire testing period. Even if a student finishes an exam before the end of the testing period, he or she must remain in the classroom until the testing period is over.
