angel treeThe National Honor Society is collecting money for Angel Tree gifts.  They would like to collect enough money to purchase Christmas gifts for 5 children.  The classes with the best percentage of money given will be treated to donuts or something similar.

7-12th Grade Exemplary Attendance Incentive
 
As a reward for great attendance, students in grades 7-12 who have not missed any days in any of their classes for the semester will be taken by bus to the food court in the mall.  The students will need to pay for their own meals and must remain in the food court while at the mall. The dates and times for the Exemplary Attendance Incentive are as follows:
      7th-9th grades       Dec. 8th    11:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m.
    10th-12thgrades      Dec. 9th    11:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m.
SENIOR PARENT MEETING

The homeroom moms are wanting to conduct
will be conducting a short but valuable informative meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 29th, at 6:00 pm in the conference room. Senior luncheons, Holiday Express and other relevant topics for our seniors will be discussed. Attendance by one parent/guardian is greatly appreciated and encouraged.

Senior Mission Trip to Haiti

March 11-18, 2012

 

Thank you in advance for contributing to a senior global mission project.  Go online to joshuaexpeditions.org.  On the home page scroll down and  click pay online.  Complete the form  as you identify our school and the name of the senior you are contributing to.  Give our Expedition number (M126) in the comments-just to make sure!  Then make your payment.  Be sure to put in your email address for your receipt.  This can either be an automatic payment  or you may send the money through the mail.  

 

If you would like to make a "lump sum" donation (allowing us to share your donation with students who are having more difficulty raising their support) you may send a check to Union Christian Academy Seniors, c/o Mrs. Sagely.  4201 Windsor Drive, Fort Smith, AR 72904.

Deadlines approaching for several opportunities:

Aply now for College Prowler $2000 No Essay Contest at https:collegeprowler.com/scholarship/apply.aspx?source=fw.

Grades 9-12 can enter the Rotary 4Way Speech Contest at Union and win $100. This school winner will be entered to the local competition for a chance at $250. See Mrs. Birch or Mrs. Chavis for more information or go to the Rotary International web page and research the 4Way Speech contest. The deadline to declare participation is December 9 and the speeches will be heard on December 12.

 

The Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship application is available in the Counseling Center. The application must be delivered to an Elks Lodge on or before December 2, 2011. A completed application, which includes a 500 word essay, is required. Do this over the break.

 

The American Legion High School Oratorical contest which promotes knowledge and appreciation of the US Constitution is open. Students interested should see Mrs. Chavis. Scholarships range to $1500. The deadline is January 3, 2012.

 

A University of Central Arkansas representative will be on campus at B lunch on December 13 to talk about programs, admissions and opportunities there. Sign up on the Counseling Center door.

 

Late registration for the December ACT is Friday, November 18.

 

A few students need to pay for the PLAN (10th) or the EXPLORE (8th) tests. The PLAN is $13 and the EXPLORE is $10. Make checks payable to Union Christian Academy or cash is accepted and turn in to Mrs. Chavis. Semester grades will be held for payment.
