To Union Christian Academy Family:
Thank you for the outpouring of love and support shown our family during the months before and after Karen's passing. You comforted us with cards, books, food, flowers and most of all, your presence and prayers. God has showered us with grace and we have great peace knowing Karen is with Christ in Heaven.
We encourage you to become familiar with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition by visiting the website www.ovarian.org. The NOCC is working to break the silence on Ovarian Cancer.
Union Christian Academy is a tremendous blessing. Educating students with an emphasis on Christ is very important to our family. Karen loved our school and we look forward to an exciting future at Union Christian Academy.

from the desk of Mrs. Chavis...
Sophomores will take the PLAN, the forerunner test of the ACT, on November 3. The fee is $13.00 payable to Union Christian Academy or cash. This is due October 28. Statistics from the ACT testing service confirms that tenth graders who take the PLAN do better by several points on the regular ACT that those who do not take the PLAN. There is an interest inventory for career exploration, as well as college and scholarship information and opportunities. The PLAN can also serve as a predictor for success in future high school courses.
The Explore test will be administered on Nov 8 to all 8th graders. The fee is $10.00 and be payable to Union Christian Academy. This test will help students determine their strengths and weaknesses and gain information for improvement. It serves as a benchmark for the PLAN and ACT.
Why take these tests? Click here for details!
Go to www.planstudent.org or www.explorestudent.org to review the test format and become familiar with the type of questions on the tests. Payment by check should be made to Union Christian Academy or by cash. Turn payments in to Mrs. Chavis by October 31.
======================================
Sophomores who are interested in developing their leadership skill should see Mrs. Chavis about the HOBY Youth Leadership Program. Our school may make recommendations. The School deadline is Nov 17. This is a great opportunity for students.

UAFS has scheduled DEN DAY for November 3 with registration beginning at 8:30-9:00. Parents and seniors are invited. Students are encouraged to pre-register online at uafortsmith.edu and search den day. Seniors are allowed two college visit days this year, but they MUST complete the College Visit Day form prior to making the visit for the absence not to count against them. The forms are in the high school office window. They require student, parent, counselor, and administration signatures.
