top Greetings!
.
It's time to say goodbye
to another hot NC Summer...
  Autumn alley
...helloooooo Autumn!

Don't worry, the Ros Garden isn't going anywhere just yet, but autumn is indeed upon us (officially beginning this Saturday morning at 10:49) and we're already fantasizing about all of the fun we're gonna have on these crisp evenings with bold, spicy reds.  One of the great things about living in North Carolina is the distinct seasons, and the beginnings of Spring and Autumn are truly invigorating!
There's nothing quite like a enjoying glass of Cabernet Franc while watching the sunset in October or sharing a bottle of Syrah over dinner with friends on a chilly November evening.  Take time to savor these gorgeous transitional days and pair them with your favorite reds.

Summer of Riesling Wraps Up
SoRtat2
The end of summer also ends another excellent "Summer of Riesling," but we wouldn't want anyone to think for a second that this noblest of white grapes is going out of season!  In fact, Riesling is about as perennial as it gets - crisp and refreshing when it's hot out and a truly phenomenal companion to hearty winter fare when cold weather rolls around.
So, currently on the Enomatic, we're introducing a brand new arrival from Fred Prinz - a glorious (and dry) example from 2007 of how gracefully Riesling tends to age.  We're also happy to unveil one of our all- time favorite values in it's new 2011 vintage, Weingut Binz's dry 1-Liter masterpiece. Prost!

Tasty Tuesday!
Which world are you from?

This Tuesday, September 18th, we present our mid-week FREE wine tasting.  Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 - 6:30, we host this bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day!

Which world are you from?
In talking about "New World" and "Old World" wines, the core idea is that the classic wine regions of Europe tend toward subtlety, higher acid, and terroir while the wines of the United States and the Southern Hemisphere make priorities of power, ripeness, and varietal character.  At this week's Tasty Tuesday, we'll be sampling three great values in the low weekly price range that smudge the boundaries of the Old World-New World divide.
Beginning in Washington State, we'll visit a Pinot Gris which is a dead ringer for its cousins in northern Italy.  Next, we'll sample a beautifully balanced Merlot from California which isn't a far cry from its Bordelais ancestors and finish with a bold red from Portugal's Douro which is every bit as muscular and extroverted as the big reds popularized by the New World.
And don't forget:
Tasty Tuesday 20%
Mixed Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 12 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 20% off!

Germany's Rheinhessen & Nahe

Rheinhessen & Nahe This Saturday's free tasting features four of our all-time favorite selections from Germany, and not a moment too soon!  We've been eagerly awaiting the return of these elegant and unique wines for over a year, and now that they're finally available again, we're eager to share them with you!  Hailing from the Nahe and Rheinhessen, each of these four whites shows a distinct set of attributes all its own.  First, we'll sample a boundlessly bright Pinot Blanc and a Pinot Noir vinified as a white wine.  Next we'll sample a luminously crisp dry Riesling and an exotic blend starring the illusive Kanzler grape. Fantastisch!

Half a decade ago, we visited this winery while on a German wine-buying trip. Five years later, we can still confirm that the Binz estate is responsible for some of the Rheinhessen's (and Germany's) greatest values. Located on the "red slope" between Nackenheim and Oppenheim, beautiful red earth-atop-limestone vineyards give...
