Greetings!
This Saturday, rise and shine with Rise & wine!
In the great tradition of the Only Burger debut, Pork & Pinot, and other store-packing events of our past, this Saturday we welcome Chef Tom Ferguson (Durham Catering Company, co-creator of Only Burger) when he'll be giving out biscuit and donut samples from his soon to open restaurant Rise. During our 12-3 wine tasting, Tom and staff will be sampling three types of donuts and two types of biscuits (one vegetarian!) While it might at first seem odd that Saturday's wine tasting revolves around what are generally viewed as breakfast foods, we (as passionate proselytizers of viticultural virtue) can't help but see breakfast as an unconquered land - the lone meal of the day which insists on playing coy with our beverage of choice! ~~~~ Wine dinner at Guglhupf Sparkling Wines & Local Farms Wednesday, August 22nd Join us for another fantastic evening at Guglhupf Café where we'll be pouring several sparkling wines, including Cava, Txakoli, Crémant, Lambrusco & Moscato from artisan farm wineries. Chef Dave Alworth will be working closely with and featuring local farms for produce and meat in an inspired menu that never fails to impress us. Call soon, as these dinners sell out very quickly. Call 919.401.2600 for reservations.
Showcasing our fondness for juicy, dry, pink wines that are arguably the best flavor of wine during a Carolina summer.

To celebrate the opening of Mateo late next week in Durham's five points, we'll have four sherries on the Enomatic. Starting next Monday, come in anytime to taste and learn about these signature wines that are classically served with tapas. Grab our free zine/guide to sherry and escape your fear of this misunderstood wine.
Then, be sure to visit Mateo and enjoy Michael Maller's extensive sherry selection with some of Chef Matt Kelly's small plates. In the hands of these two, we have no doubt that this restaurant will be one of Durham's (and NC's) finest.

Tasty Tuesday
2012 Summer Olympics:
Get crackin' with Greek wine!
This Tuesday, August 7th, we present our weekly "Tasty Tuesday" FREE wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 until 6:30, we host this FREE bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day.
Great wine pairings aren't always about what we're having for dinner! For instance, which wines pair perfectly with the Olympic Games? Greek ones, of course, and this gives us a great opportunity to sample through three of our favorites: an enormously aromatic white made from the indigenous Assyrtiko and Athiri grapes, a daily white which incorporates both the Roditis and Moscofilero varietals, and a fresh, lively red featuring a blend of Agiorgitiko (St. George) and Cabernet Sauvignon!

The brainchild of Chef Tom Ferguson, Rise aims to bring us classic and adventurous versions of donuts and biscuits highlighting local ingredients for discerning palates. Rise will be giving out FREE samples of three types of donut and two types of biscuit, including a vegetarian option! Don't miss it.

CRISP & LIGHTLY SPARKLING, DRY & FRUITY, A CUSTOMER FAVORITE! Werner and Angela first produced this rosé for their wedding. It's a less fruity... On Sale $9.99 [Full Description]

CRISP BLACK GRAPES & JUICY PURPLE FRUIT, ZESTY ACIDITY, MOUTH-MASSAGING EFFERVESCENCE This off-dry field blend of different Lambrusco grapes represents a renaissance of sorts for the fizzy red wines of Emilia-Romagna. Lambrusco has been long maligned by factory production, but it takes only a few honest growers (and a bit of common sense) to realize that...
