Greetings!
¡Hay Txakolina!
Are you a Txakoholic? If so, this is a great week to be you! If not, this is a great opportunity to begin cultivating an affinity for the tantalizingly effervescent and energetic wines of choice from the Basque Country of Spain. This Saturday, we'll be hosting a free tasting & tribute to these rare and refreshing spritzy delights from noon to three, and Six Plates is holding its annual Txakolifest from 1pm to 2am (broken into three ticketed sessions - check out the Txakolifest section below for details).
New Cheese Selections
from Prodigal Farm
We're very happy to announce three new farmstead selections from Prodigal Farm right here in Durham County (Rougemont). They love their goats! In fact, they are certified by the Animal Welfare Institute and proudly uphold the highest standards of goat husbandry. This Saturday, we'll be sampling each of these new arrivals: - Crottin: Little packages of goat cheese goodness traditional in the Loire valley. Complex and robust.
- Marinated Feta: Creamy with light floral and citrus notes. Grab a cibatta or batard to soak up the delicious marinade!
- Field of Creams: Prodigal Farm's original creation inspired by and perfumed with woodland flavors of rosemary, juniper, thyme and fennel.

Tickets still available!
JULY 21st at SIX PLATES
The Various calling cards of summer keep mounting up, and yet another seasonal milestone looms on the horizon - Txakolifest! Yes, it's the one day a year that Durham breaks out its secret stash of porrons and is transformed into a an unlikely sister city to San Sebastián complete with spritzy Basque wine, oysters, and tapas. Each year this is one of the great celebrations in town, and it's become the largest TxakoliFest in the United States. There will be two reserved sessions, The first (1:00 - 4:00) and the second (4:00 - 7:00) where guests will be given a Txakoli/Sidra glass upon admittance and have at their disposal the ability to order a vast sea of Txakoli and small plates specially chosen to go with the wine. Of course there will be live music and much revelry. This event sells out every year, so get your tickets ASAP at Wine Authorities (cash only) or Six Plates (both cash and credit cards accepted). As usual, we will be kicking off the festivities with our FREE Saturday tasting of several Txakoli from 12-3:00 to get you primed for the party and brushed up on your porron wielding skills.

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
"try before you buy" at our FREE tasting
This year's Pre-Txakolifest kickoff features several familiar faces from Txakoli tastings of previous years while adding an extra bit of mystery! Not only are we psyched to have up our sleeves illusive examples of rosé and red Txakoli, but we're also pouring a deliciously traditional Basque cider. Most exciting of all is that we'll be introducing a brand new Txakoli exclusive which has never before been available on our shores. So join us as we pass around the porron, taste some truly unique and fantastic wines, and try your hand at actually catching some of the spritzy summertime elixir in your mouth (don't worry, Txakoli won't stain). ¡Hay Txakolina!
