Greetings!
RETURN OF THE
"Garrigon." If we didn't know better, the sheer weight of the name might inspire us to believe that it belonged to some legendary and massive beast which could rise from the Atlantic and drive Durham's fair citizens to hysteria. Come to think of it, that's not too far from the truth. Only, instead of running in droves away from the goliath, our customers clamor to it.
The legendary 3-Liter Box of Garrigon is now poised to descend upon Wine Authorities this very Friday (Tomorrow, June 1st) at 10am and will be available on a first come - first serve basis. - A Syrah/Grenache blend from our favorite Rhone Valley estate.
- It usually sells out in one day here!
- Organically farmed from their own vineyard.
- It is bottled (and bagged in the box) just for us! The rest is sold locally in bulk to restaurants and nearby residents.
- Each box holds the equivalent of 4 bottles of wine.
$29.99 each = $7.50/bottle buy two and get 10% off $26.99 each = $6.75/bottle buy three and get 15% off $25.49 each = $6.37/bottle buy four (or more) and get 20% off $23.99 each = $5.99/bottle! ~~~~ In other exciting news this week, we welcome Craig, our Grand Poobah Wine Swami, back from two weeks abroad in Slovenia & Italy, and we can't wait to hear more about his discoveries. Even better is the fact that he can no longer torture us with graphic pictures and descriptions of the wonderful things that he's been eating and drinking there. Also, we have a special guest, Matt Souza from Counter Culture Coffee in the store this Saturday. He'll be pouring samples and demonstrating his techniques for making excellent iced coffee from 11:30 to 2:30 on Saturday afternoon. ~~~~ Rosé Garden 2012
The Rosé Garden is in bloom once again!
It's growing new blossoms every week, so check in frequently to discover which new pretty and pink selections have emerged since your last visit. 2012 will see one of the most diverse and ornate gardens thus far!
A portion of all dry Rosé sales are being donated to the fight against breast cancer.

Real Customer Comment: "That's why I come here. You know what you're getting. All of these wines are from estates, and I've never had one from here that I haven't liked." -Michael M.

Tasty Tuesday
(Not Quite) A Spoonful of Sugar...
This Tuesday, May 29th, we present our weekly "Tasty Tuesday" FREE wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 until 6:30, we host this FREE bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day.
Many of us have an odd phobia of "sweet wines," avoiding everything from fresh spritzy Moscato to powerful fortified treasures that can age for a century. This week, we're taking you a baby step toward reevaluating wines with a bit of sugar - in this case, far less than a spoonful. The three wines we'll be tasting on Tuesday have a barely perceptible degree of sweetness and are all the better for it, so stop in and try a ripe Sauvignon Blanc from central Spain, a lithe Riesling from New Zealand, and a citrusy Chenin from California to find out just how sweet a pinch of sweetness really can be!

Vine to Wine
Our final class before Summer break!
On Thursday, June 7th, we present our in-depth introductory wine class. 7:33 - 10:00pm
An evening of wine chronicling a vine's bud break in the spring to each of its grapes being lovingly squeezed into the bottles that we hold so dear. We cover how vines grow, how wine is made, how to read a label, how to buy wine, how to store wine, how to drink, er, taste wine... and we'll debunk many wine myths throughout this short two+ hour class.
(includes tasting wines, video presentation, and handouts)
$36 per person

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
"try before you buy" at our FREE tasting Many of us have been following Craig's travels in northern Italy and Slovenia via Facebook as he's tasted his way through one exciting discovery after another. This week's Saturday tasting will pick up where he left off with four wines from central Italy - a clean and minerally white from Marche, another with mysterious richness from Umbria, a red from Lazio with an ancient and regal reputation, and a weekly northern Tuscan blend of Sangiovese with a Franco-Italian assortment of other grapes. Ciao!
