Though it precedes the official beginning of summer by almost a month, Memorial day is one of the landmarks we look to when confirming that the season is indeed underway.  This week, we'll not only have a tasting of wines from the United States in honor of the holiday, but we will (as always) be at the ready to recommend some of our favorite refreshing warm-weather wines and accompaniments to the outdoorsy activities which are practically staples of late spring's longest weekend.

Closed Memorial Day Monday May 28th

Tasty Tuesday
Zweigelt
Meet an Army of Z!

This Tuesday, May 29th, we present our weekly "Tasty Tuesday" FREE wine tasting.  Every Tuesday is tasty!  From 5:00 until 6:30, we host this FREE bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day.
Zweigelt, Austria's highly versatile red varietal may still be a relative baby in the world of grapes (with less than a hundred years under its belt), but it proved its competence as a fighter right out of the gate and has already enjoyed a lifetime's worth of adventures.
This week, we'll enjoy a sampling of Zweigelt in Rosé form (and one of our perennial favorites at that), a kind of family reunion in a bottle featuring Zweigelt and both its parent grapes, and (speaking of parents) a face to face meeting with Zweigelt's much-esteemed father, central Europe's man about town, Blaufrankisch.

Vine to Wine
Our final class before Summer break!
Classroom
On Thursday, June 7th, we present our in-depth introductory wine class.  7:33 - 10:00pm

An evening of wine chronicling a vine's bud break in the spring to each of its grapes being lovingly squeezed into the bottles that we hold so dear.  We cover how vines grow, how wine is made, how to read a label, how to buy wine, how to store wine, how to drink, er, taste wine... and we'll debunk many wine myths throughout this short two+ hour class.
(includes tasting wines, video presentation, and handouts)

Old Glory
Every year, on the Saturday preceding Memorial Day, we host a tasting of wines perfect for accompanying the picnics, cookouts, and long-weekend unwindings which we all enjoy looking forward to.  This year we have some sublimely grill-friendly recent arrivals from the west coast of the United States.  Two of these are new vintages of familiar wines and two are completely new to the store, each fit for whatever special occasion (or very relaxing non-occasion) you might have planned for your weekend!
