Greetings!
Kick off this weekend with Klaus Wittauer:
Austrian Importer Extraordinaire
Taste with him this Friday, May 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM! By now, you're familiar with the fact that Klaus is indeed "in da haus." He's one of Wine Authorities' key importers as he specializes in precisely the same sort of producers that we do: small, up-and-coming, family- owned wineries which make estate-grown wine. As one of Austria's true ambassadors of its diverse wine culture, he is a fountain of knowledge and extremely passionate about his homeland - educational and always entertaining. You know that you're in for a treat whenever he begins to share his wines and tales of the people behind them. Stop by tomorrow evening and join Klaus in a concise tour through Austria with a few selections from his delicious portfolio!

From dirt to shirt:
"Wine From Farmers Not Factories"
Tee shirt weather is here!
$15.99 each (Awesomeness!) Our new t-shirts have arrived and they're the stylish and comfy way to say you don't drink junk! You prefer artisan wines from the farmers who work the land themselves. And maybe you even like our little wine shop too. ; ) Our shirts are made with cotton grown in North Carolina and the shirt itself is made in North Carolina, then printed by our friends at T.S. Designs in Burlington, NC. Sooo soft and pre-shrunk, you have to touch one of these with your own hands. Available in "Brick" (a gentle red) or "Cement" (dark gray) with off-white images.
Also back in stock are our Durham - "Crunchy on the Outside..." shirts (available this time in Blue or Red.) ~~~~
Real customer comments:
"Dear Wine Authorities: Thank you for being you and for being here in Durham. You make this Durhamite very happy on a weekly basis.

Tasty Tuesday
Southern France From East to West
This Tuesday, May 8th, we present our weekly "Tasty Tuesday" FREE wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 until 6:30, we host this FREE bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day.
This week, we're beginning in Provence to taste a clean and very aromatic maritime white, hopping over to the central Languedoc for one of the world's truly first class companion wines for seafood (not to mention springtime's balmy warm weather), and settling upon Gascony, where we'll finish with an earthy, sublimely rustic Merlot. Salut!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
"try before you buy" at our FREE tasting Join us this Saturday as we explore the fringes of northern Italy, beginning in the far northeastern region of Friuli close to the country's border with Slovenia. This is the contemporary home to some of Italy's best and brightest whites, and we'll be tasting a knockout Pinot Grigio and an example of the unique Friulano grape. Next we'll be traveling to the westernmost reaches of the country for a taste of two energetic (and very spring-friendly) Piemontese reds - a chiseled, snappy Grignolino and a richly purple, very aromatic Dolcetto!
(WEEKLY WINE: $12 to $19.99)
Fantinel
Pinot Grigio 2010
"Borgo Tesis"
100% Pinot Grigio
(Friuli, Italy)
ZESTY CITRUS & CRISP APRICOT, BOLD MINERALITY, LITHE & EXPRESSIVE Bright, clean, and representing the intense minerality that Italy's northeastern region of Friuli has become famous for, this Pinot Grigio owes a debt both to the stony vineyards of Grave and to the three generations of hard and passionate work put forth by this estate. Fantinel was modestly established in 1969 on the cusp of...

Giorgio Cantamessa Grignolino d'Asti 2010 "La Partia Granda" 100% Grignolino (Piemonte, Italy) STRAWBERRY & CHERRY, EXOTIC, LEAN & LIVELY Bright, refreshing, and with a decidedly athletic build, Grignolino is a Piemontese hallmark that woefully few people have the opportunity to try outside of its region of origin. It fills a youthful niche similar to that of... On Sale $16.99 [Full description]

Castello di Verduno
Dolcetto d'Alba "Campot" 2010
100% Dolcetto
(Piemonte, Italy)
STUNNING RIPE PURPLE DELICIOUSNESS, FLORAL ELEGANCE Taking its title "Campot" from a local term which refers to the uppermost reaches of a sloping vineyard, this Dolcetto is a contemporary example of what the grape is able to achieve. The varietal's typical acidity and tart berryish appeal melds with a lushness which is...
