Just arrived! - $15.99 each Our new t-shirts have arrived and they're the stylish and comfy way to say you don't drink junk! You prefer artisan wines from the farmers who work the land themselves. And maybe you even like our little wine shop too. ; ) Our shirts are made with cotton grown in North Carolina and the shirt itself is made in North Carolina, then printed by our friends at T.S. Designs in Burlington, NC. Sooo soft and pre-shrunk, you have to touch one of these with your own hands. Available in "Brick" (a gentle red) or "Cement" (dark gray) with off-white images.
Also back in stock are our Durham - "Crunchy on the Outside..." shirts (available this time in Blue or Red.) ~~~~

Tasty Tuesday
Popcorn Pairings: featuring The Mad Popper
This Tuesday, April 24th, we present our weekly "Tasty Tuesday" FREE wine tasting. Every Tuesday is tasty! From 5:00 until 6:30, we host this FREE bonus tasting of three wines to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day.
When you think of the perfect synergy that a glass of wine and a delectable meal sometimes attain, what springs to mind? Southeast Asian cuisine with a floral, mouthwatering white? Braised lamb with an earthy red from the Southern Rhone? Popcorn and...? Join us this week for one of our most unusually themed tastings yet - a pairing of three wines and three delicious and adventurous flavors of popcorn from Durham's own Mad Popper. After all, it's only fitting that we don't skimp on food-friendly wines at snack time!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
"try before you buy" at our FREE tasting The vineyards of Germany are the origin of some of Europe's most unique and elegant wines. This week, we have an exciting tasting lined up featuring four new German arrivals from producers which are anything but new. Some of these estates, in fact, have been around for hundreds of years under the guidance of a single family's lineage (now that's dedication)! We'll begin with one of Riesling's most famous children, Müller Thurgau, before visiting the regal Riesling herself in the form of two bright, bold, and intensely characterful examples from Rheinhessen and the Mosel. Our final stop is to meet a deliciously ripe and dry Dornfelder, Germany's quintessential red grape.
(WEEKLY WINE: $12 to $19.99)
Schloss Mühlenhof
Müller Thurgau 2010
100% Müller Thurgau
(Rheinhessen, Germany)
CRISP PEAR, TANGY LEMON & KIWI, CHALKY MINERAL The Michel family has, for six generations, farmed its sloping vineyards which overlook the charming Rheinhessen municipality of Kettenheim. The estate's methods are entirely green, and environmental sensitivity is a key priority. The Müller-Thurgau grape is one of the best-known crossings of Riesling and Sylvaner and has, unfortunately, been...

(WEEKLY WINE: $12 to $19.99) Dr. Fischer
Riesling Qba 2010 "Ockfener Bockstein" 100% Riesling
(Saar Valley, Mosel, Germany)
HIGHLY MINERAL, JUICY LIME, SILKY, OFF-DRY One of the arguments for the existence of "terroir" (the taste and smell that come from where something originates) is that highly singular vineyards like the Bockstein vineyard in Ockfen gives its wines a distinct flavor that you cannot find in any other wine in the world. This silky, gorgeous, off dry Riesling will help you...
On Sale $15.99 [Full description] (WEEKLY WINE: $12 to $19.99)
Seebrich Riesling Spätlese 2010 "Niersteiner Hipping" 100% Riesling (Rheinhessen, Germany) LEMON TART, HONEY & TANGY TROPICAL FRUIT, BOLD MINERALITY, SLIGHTLY SWEET This is Spätlese reaching its logical conclusion - filled with ripe citrusy fruit and glimmering minerality, balanced with refreshing acidity, and bulging with elegance. The Rhine's Nierstein region provides a nurturing environment for its vines, helping... On Sale $18.99 [Full description]
(WEEKLY WINE: $12 to $19.99)
Georg Albrecht Schneider
Dornfelder 2009
Trocken
100% Dornfelder
(Rheinhessen, Germany)
PLUMS, BLACKBERRIES, CHERRIES, FLORAL, SOFT TANNIN The Schneider estate goes back 7 generations and during harvest, one usually finds 3 generations at work! Red earth soils yield wines with finesse and power. Some Dornfelders are a bit sweet, but we love this dry version for its quality, unique flavors and refreshing drinkability. The softer tannin is appealing, especially in warm...
