"Wine From Farmers Not Factories"
   newshirt2Just arrived!  -  $15.99 each
Our new t-shirts have arrived and they're the stylish and comfy way to say you don't drink junk!  You prefer artisan wines from the farmers who work the land themselves.  And maybe you even like our little wine shop too.  ; )
Our shirts are made with cotton grown in North Carolina and the shirt itself is made in North Carolina, then printed by our friends at T.S. Designs in Burlington, NC.  Sooo soft and pre-shrunk, you have to touch one of these with your own hands.

Available in "Brick" (a gentle red) or "Cement" (dark gray) with off-white images.

New Arrivals from Mas de Libian
Mas de Libian Thibon sisters
Hélène & Catherine with Nestor the horse
It appears that quite a few of you have already noticed the gorgeous wines of Mas de Libian.  Our early arrivals, "Bout d'Zan" ($14.99) and "Khayyam" ($19.99) rapidly established themselves a veritable fan club of devotees including Rhone enthusiasts who purchase them by the case.  We've now just received both the estate's flagship wine "La Calade" $39.99, and its stunning, stupendous value, the "Vin de Pétanque" $11.99 (soon to be our most highly sought-after wine, we predict.)  So stop in and learn more about the game of Pétanque, the fantastic wines from the Southern Rhone, and of course (horse of the year) Nestor!

Tasty Tuesday
We're silly for Sicily!
Sicily
This Tuesday, April 17th, we present our weekly "Tasty Tuesday" FREE wine tasting.  Every Tuesday is tasty!  From 5:00 until 6:30, we host this FREE bonus tasting of three wines (sakes in this case, actually) to get you through the early week and land you safely on hump day.
Join us this week for a sampling of three unique and very representative Sicilian wines.  We'll begin with examples of the island's most famous white and red grapes (Insolia and Nero d'Avola) before the special treat of an amazing Frappato which elevates the varietal (which is normally found in light, uncomplicated table wines) to a world-class beacon of bright and elegant fruit!

This Saturday from 12 to 3 PM
"try before you buy" at
our FREE tasting

Songkran
In celebration of the Thai New Year, Songkran, we're hosting a tasting comprised of wines which pair sublimely with Thai & Southeast Asian cuisine. There'll be two exotic and very floral whites with the personality and aromatic intensity to stand shoulder to shoulder with the very flavorful dishes of Thailand, a juicy Spanish Rosé (our very first of the 2011 vintage!), and an elegant red from central Italy with unexpected (and unctuous) citrus notes.
Come early and be treated to some great Thai finger foods and samples courtesy of our neighbor, Thai Café, and don't forget our 10% off "Thai One On" discount available year round whenever you pick up a single bottle to go with your takeout from next door!

Samora Branco Companhia das Lezírias

Samora Branco 2010

60% Fernão Pires, 40% Arinto

(Tejo, Portugal)

JUICY FRUIT, VERY FLORAL, TANGERINE, CITRUS
From the southern end of Portugal in the newly renamed region of Tejo we have this darling summer sipper and pool side white called "Samora" from the Samora Correia area. The estate has just 120 hectares under vine, and this is simply one of the best white wine values around. Peach, honeydew melon, tangerine and citrus jump from...

Bukettraube Cederberg

Bukettraube 2011

100% Bukettraube!

(Cederberg, South Africa)

SUPER EXOTIC, FLORAL, SPICY, OFF-DRY AND RICH
A grape variety from the super-obscure category: Bukettraube or Bouquettraube [France]. This grape is planted in miniscule amounts in France, Germany and South Africa. Think of this as a wine that tastes like Chenin Blanc meets Sauvignon Blanc meets Riesling and Muscat. Big and friendly, spicy and...

Monte Castrillo

Peñalba Lopez

Rosado 2011

"Monte Castrillo"

100% Tempranillo

(Ribera del Duero, Spain)

CANDIED CHERRY AND GUARANA, VERY FRESH!
Younger Tempranillo vines (12-15 years!) are the source for this dry rosado. The limestone soils contribute the dry minerality flavors we love. Look at that color! Bright cherry red with all the cherry/raspberry fruit you can stuff in the bottle. The finish is very long with a slight herbal edge and wonderfully dry...

Morro d'Alba Enzo Mecella

Lacrima di Morro d'Alba 2010

100% Lacrima di Morro d'Alba

(Marches, Italy)

DRY TART BERRY, CLASSIC ITALIAN PLUM, LEMON OIL
Lacrima is of extremely ancient origin and is still cultivated only in the commune of Morro d'Alba. The huge diversity of grape varieties still found in the center and south of Italy makes it extremely difficult to trace the pedigree of this varietal. The cultivation is so complex that the exact origins of Lacrima may never be established. Lacrima means "tear drop" and may be due to this grape's...
