When I started my first business 23 years ago at the tender age of 22, I was extremely shy. I knew that in order to succeed, I needed to step out of my comfort zone, learn as much as I could and spread my wings. Below are some lessons I have learned along my journey of self-discovery that I thought might be helpful for you as well. Warmly, Leslie Sturgeon Women Inspiring Women Founder As the saying goes, "you wouldn't head out on a road trip without a map," so don't head out into life without an idea of where you are headed and a map to guide you - do some goal setting! Forget the negative past. Today and tomorrow are all that matters. Stop being the victim. You are 100% responsible for your life including your actions and reactions. Be aware of what you need for skills and training to get to the next level - occasionally take steps so you will be ready when the opportunity comes along. Don't be afraid to fail because it will be a learning experience. We learn from the bumps in the road. Understand yourself - be aware of yourself, embrace your weaknesses and nurture your gifts. Distance yourself from toxic people and dream stealers. Instead surround yourself with people who lift you up, who encourage you to dream big, who support you, who don't have baggage and drama and even people who are smarter than you! You are your only competition. Compete with yourself and always try to raise the bar! Always be working towards something that is a huge stretch out of your comfort zone. Find a mentor and emulate how they live their lives. Learn from their example! Always reflect on the past with gratitude for the experience and appreciate the lessons you have learned along the way - take time to celebrate how far you have come and never have regret.
