Be a MOMS Link Peer Mentor

Approximately 15% of new mothers will experience lasting feelings of depression after having a child.  The New Brunswick Department of Health has recognized a need to provide more adequate support to these mothers.  The Mothers Offering Mentorship and Support (MOMS) Link study tests the desirability and effectiveness of different supports for mothers with postpartum depression in the province.  Up to 200 mothers with symptoms of postpartum depression are being offered traditional, telephone peer support, or traditional plus peer support, along with screening for and information on PPD.

MOMS Link peer mentorship is about mothers offering mentorship and support to other mothers. It's a mother who has recovered from symptoms of postpartum depression, who will call a mother currently going through symptoms of postpartum depression weekly for up to 12 weeks just to talk. A peer mentor cares, and can relate to a mother?s feelings and experiences. If you have fully recovered from feelings of sadness, crying, moodiness, anxiety, lack of energy, irritability, poor memory or confusion after the birth of a child, you can help other mothers by being a MOMS Link peer mentor.  Your help matters, because no one can understand a mother going through postpartum depression better than a mother who has been through a similar experience.  For more information, all 1-877-214-8390 toll-free, or check out our website at www.momsnb.ca.

'ARTZ' on Main will open its doors on Wednesday afternoons, 12:45 p.m-2:45  April 6, 13, 20 & 27 offering interactive sessions including the art of creativity, early literacy and imagery alive through puppetry, circle sing-along games and dramatic non-scripted play. So, 'Lazy Mary, Will You Get Up?' and Ring-a-Ring o'Rosies' with us while we dance 'Round and Round the Village' with 'The Farmer in the Dell'!
