Children's Department at the Library
|
Welcome to a new feature of the sjkid newsletter. Every month we will feature a community group or organization. This month we feature the Children's Department of the Library
The Children's Department is just not a place to borrow books (although there are lots to borrow) It offers many free programs for children of all ages, from babies to tweens.
The Library offers parents of children under 5 programs (Babies in the Library, Toddler Time, Preschool Story Time), where they can meet other families, while engaging their children in important learning opportunities. They offer older children programs, such as Hackmatack Book Club and DDR and Rock Star. The library has a great new program for Grandparents and kids called Grand Pair of Readers. These are just a few of the many programs offered.
Right now all branches are offering special March Break activities. The programming does not end with the school year, they run a special Summer Reading program.
All Area Libraries offer a special area for Children to read and play. There is a place to do crafts and words searches. Once your child has a free library card, they can take out books, books on tapes, DVDs, and CDs. For more information on programming contact you local branch. The Saint John Free Public Library has three service points. The Main Branch at Market Square (643-7239),the West branch, located
in Lancaster Mall (643-7260), and the East branch, on Westmorland Rd. (643-7250).
The Kennebecasis Public Library is located at 1 Landing Court,
in Quispamsis (849-5314).
French resources can be found at Bibliothèque Le Cormoran. It is located in the Samuel
de Champlain Centre on Ragged Point Rd. (658-4610). |
