Sometimes the simplest solutions are easily overlooked.  A scenario I am asked about quite a bit revolves around an Order and Assignment. If a User places an Order, but then several other staffers are working on it, how do you know who is responsible for filling it? That's an easy answer.. track it under the User in Assignment. It can be set up to automatically insert the Users name, or it can be done manually. 

Now you can track who took the Order and who filled the Assignments on the Order.

  

If you have access to Admin Tools you can create new User choice codes if needed. Otherwise you will need to talk to your Admin. 

The User is so versatile. I'm sure you are already thinking of a few other ways you can "use" it.
