Staffing, as you all well know is an ever changing business. Good thing you have software that can easily keep up with change!
I am often asked how to keep track of specific information that might not fit neatly into one or our predefined areas. This can range from how an Employee or Customer found out about your job opening to who they are rooting for in the next big game. You may have a few items you use under Extra that were set up when you first started, but did you know you can quickly create and start tracking the data within minutes?
Admin Tools permission is needed for the following. Below is an example of how to add an Extra item to Employee.
- Click on your Admin Tools link
- Choose Config Choice
- Click Add New
- Type EmployeeExtra in the Category
- Create the Choice Code and Description
- Choose the Branches you would like to see this Extra Choice Code
- Save
Whenever possible it's good to have a dropdown list to choose from. This helps to eliminate data entry mistakes and makes it easier when performing a search.
To create a dropdown click on the ChoiceProperty Tab (still in Admin Tools)
- Choose EmployeeExtra in Category
- Select a Branch. If I am going to make the changes for one or all Branches I do this, it makes it easier to see the exact ChoiceCode you are working with. If you know you want to apply the changes to all branches, be sure that is checked too. Otherwise you can manually select the branches you want.
- Type in the values you want listed separated by comas. For our example Gas, Grocery, Applebees.
- Type in Valuelist in the ValueType column. This indicates that you want it in list form.
- Click Save.

Now when you go back to Extra you will see your list.
This information can now searched via Advanced Search. You can also have this information brought into an existing or new Report. Talk to your Customer Care rep for additional information on how to get this set up.
We are excited to see so many of you at next week's Client Connection. Check out our Facebook and Twitter often that week (if you are attending or not). We will be updating pictures and information being shared.
