Have you ever had the rate of an assignment change in the middle of that assignment? Whether it changes because of a raise, shift change, or a renegotiation, when an assignment's rate changes it needs to be clearly communicated so that the back office can know about the rate change before they pay the employee, rather than having to do a paycheck correction after the fact.

In Aviont we have an easy way to communicate an assignment's rate change to all users.  Go to the Assignment record > Actions > Rate Change.  On the left side of the Rate Change window that pops up, you'll see the Order's information.  On the right side of the Rate Change window, you will see an area to fill out the new rate information for the assignment.  Here you can select the start date of the new rate, and what the new rate will be.  If the assignment has a Mark Up on it, then the Bill rate will automatically calculate based on that Mark Up and the Pay rate that you enter.  If there is no Mark Up on the assignment then both the Pay and Bill rates will need to be adjusted accordingly.

You can then put in a rate change reason, indicating why the rate was changed.  Clicking Finish will then create an additional Assignment Schedule so that the system (and its users) will know that this employee is going to have a rate change.  Performing a Rate Change does not create another Assignment record, but it will create an additional schedule so that, in the appropriate accounting period, both rates will come into Time Entry, indicating to the back office that this employee will potentially need to be paid some of their hours on the old rate and some on the new rate.  After noticing the transactions in Time Entry, if the back office is not sure when the new rate is supposed to start, they can always look at the Assignment to see the start date of the new rate and enter the hours accordingly.
