What's New?

Greetings!

Time flies, doesn't it?  It seems like Christmas was just last week and here we are planning for Valentine's Day.  From the activity on the Ranch, it appears that spring is just around the corner.  Did you know that spring shearing is only 3 months away?  The new spring kids could start arriving any day--if the mamas took in the fall--and the Ranchers are already starting the early transplants for the garden.  Non-hybrid seeds arrived last week for the spring planting.  Red worms will arrive in 2 weeks for vermicomposting.  Why, pretty soon, we'll be able to shed the heavy sweaters and wool socks!

God's universal laws just march right on, with or without us, regardless of our troubles and regardless of our stresses.  It feels good to know that some things never change. Someone is still in control no matter what happens in this crazy world we live in.  It's nice to know that our God can be trusted to work for our ultimate good in every circumstance.

The Ranch is a perfect place to reconnect with Him, if you've gotten a little sidetracked. The peace and quiet, the closeness to nature offer a refreshing break from the fast track that so many of us live on.  So....

Come on out and visit us anytime.  We're always glad to see you!

Peace House is closed for a time, so the Ranch will be using it as an event center.  The Ranchers will be able to play Wii games and video games; watch movies; play board games; purchase snacks and coffee; participate in card game and bingo tournaments; learn new crafts such as wood burning, crochet, leather work, and cross stitch; browse our small library; attend learning opportunities; and a host of other things we have planned.

Independent living is coming very soon. The Ranch will be opening a house for those adults with intellectual disabilties who qualify to live on their own.  These folks will receive 3 meals a day, transportation, ordering and delivery of medications, weekly house cleaning, and the security of knowing that trained staff people are on-site at all times.  More details in the very near future.

Vermicomposting is our next step in creating a fertile garden.  Our garden soil is extremely poor and dry when left on its own, so we have been augmenting it with compost from animal waste, leaves, clippings and garden leavings, creating "happy soil" using the "pile and cook method." We certainly do not turn our noses up at resources, no matter what they are. This year, we will be adding red worms to the process.  These little guys are practical, efficient and inexpensive. They'll help us use our kitchen waste. They are also endlessly fascinating to some of our Ranchers.

Our prayer for you  We pray that you would be agreeable, love others the best you can and work together as a team.  We pray that you would stop being selfish, boastful and self-centered.  Hold the ladder and let everyone climb up ahead of you.
We pray that you will be humble and grateful for the people in your life no matter who they are.  Look out for others first and put your wants last.  This was the attitude Jesus had and we pray that you would have it, too.
