Angora Kids Arrive!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our first angora goat kids arrived on Friday! The proud mama is Carmen, a very gentle and sweet girl who produces beautiful strong babies. These two little ones, a brown male and a white female, have no names yet, although they are literally bouncing off the walls of their little shelter. Their mama will go home today and the Ranchers will bottle feed them from here on out.
Angora goats are hardy little animals that are slower to mature than most other goats. There are more on the way with births coming all month, perhaps into July. These little beauties will provide us with pounds and pounds of mohair. Angora goats are shorn twice a year, in the spring and the fall. Their fiber is strong, takes up dye extremely well, shines like a silver dollar, and has many uses--from mulch to rugs to crafts. The Ranchers process their fiber and blend it with alpaca to make into handmade felt. Kid mohair is the most sought after fiber from these animals. As the animal ages, it tends to become more coarse and is suitable for uses other than clothing.
Our nieghbor and good friend, Joy Erickson, will be providing the milk from her goat dairy so the Ranchers can bottle feed. If we don't bottle feed them, they will be "untouchables" and not very Rancher friendly. Our goal with this new batch is to start building our own little herd that can live here for many years.

Clay Shooting~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first annual Clay Shooting Fundraiser was Saturday at Colorado Clays in Brighton. It was a beautiful sunny day and Colorado Clays is a beautiful facility. We had 8 shooters who spent the afternoon shooting sporting clays in teams of four. The best score of the day was won by Kit Bradshaw of Denver, one of our own board members.
