| Greetings!
Our Ranchers are working on the best garden they've ever had---really! They've got 24 4X4 vegetable beds, a sprinkler head in each bed, borders of flowers and lettuce, walkways, sitting areas, hail screens, room to weed between the beds with the tiller and lots of room to expand in the future. Their corn patch is big enough to be able to sell some of our sweet corn. Each Rancher will plant, water, weed and watch over two beds.
It's been a work in progress since Donna Bilinski sat in my office in January putting the plans on paper. Watching the plans move from sheets of graph paper to reality has been a weekly adventure. Our Ranchers are excited that they've have so much "say so" about the gardens this year. During their weekly Rancher Council meetings, they talk about expanding, adding more beds, more flowers and more places to sit and spend time admiring their work. All the while, our compost is cooking away in its new bin, built by the local Boy Scouts, getting ready to be worked in when fall comes. God is good!
The Greeley Tribune came out last week to take pictures. They've put together a slide show of photos that really capture the Ranchers at work--complete with smiles, sweat, and frustration. It really makes it clear that our Ranchers don't sit inside watching videos and playing cards all day long. They have reasons to get up in the morning, things to look forward to, lessons to learn, work to be proud of, satisfaction of accomplishment and the joy of being happily tired at the end of a long day. I hope you'll take a look at the slide show and fall in love with the Ranch and Ranchers, if you haven't already. Our thanks go out to Eric Bellamy and Jakob Rodgers of the Greeley Tribune.
And remember, come out and visit us anytime. We're always happy to see you.
