Turkish Towel - this seaweed grows on the Mendocino cost and is locally harvested by my friend, student and raw food enthusiast Terry Nieves of Ocean Harvest. It provides ocean therapy, as well as ocean nutrients, odors and sensual companionship. You take the seaweed into your bath or shower, and also use it to rub on your skin. So cool! I bought a package for every sea baby in my family. (Shhhh, don't spill the secret!) Give Terry a call to order your own at (707) 937-1923
*NEW* Round cutter ring. This is a great tool for someone who gives dinner parties a lot. It is often used by pastry chefs, but I prefer to put a ring on a plate, and stuff my salad in there. Then pull off the ring and you have a Tower of Power - nutritional power that is. It is a great way to plate layered desserts as well. Available at Sur La Table and other places.

*NEW* Aerolatte. This cool toy froths and whisks your dressings and milks. No more getting out your blender when making a small batch of dressing or sauce. Mashed Notatoes with Wavy Gravy
recipes by Chef Elaina Love
This recipe is one of my favorites for keeping warm through the winter. If you want other recipes and tips to stay rawsome all winter long, click here to register for the upcoming class. The first 15 people to sign-up for the teleclass will receive a free Holiday recipe packet as well.
Mashed Notatoes
2 ¼ cups peeled and chopped celery root or cauliflower ¼ cup macadamia nuts 1 Tbsp. white miso paste 1 tsp onion powder ¾ tsp salt ¼ cup Irish Moss paste (see recipe below) 1/3 cup water
To make, blend all the ingredients in a food processor until completely creamy and thick. Serve as is, or gently heat on a stove top until just warmer than your finger.
To make Irish Moss paste blend ¼ cup soaked Irish Moss (soak it for 3 - 24 hours then rinse very well to get all sand out) and 1 cup water. Blend on high until smooth and creamy (can take a while in the blender). Store in the refrigerator in a glass jar (will last up to 10 days). Irish Moss is a seaweed high in minerals, especially
Iodine (great for Thyroid and hormonal health). It is used in recipes
as a fat substitute and a thickening agent.
Ravey Gravy 7 Brazil nuts 1 Tbsp olive oil ½ cup Irish Moss Paste ¼ cup water 1 ½ cup chopped zucchini ¼ tsp salt 2 Tbsp. dark miso ½ tsp garlic powder ½ tsp paprika ½ tsp onion powder ½ tsp dried or fresh rosemary ½ tsp lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
Blend on high in a blender until smooth
Store in a jar for up to a week in the fridge
A time saving option:
If you are in a hurry, skip
the Wavey Gravey and top your mashed Notatoes with Pumpkin Seed Oil. It has
the taste, color and texture of gravey. I like International Harvest brand, its organic and raw. It can be found at the Rainbow
Grocery and Whole Foods Market, among other locations. It is super
yummy!
