There are many opportunities for learning and growing highlighted in this issue, so please take your time to savor them all and make your plans. Classes on campus are always a treat and online classes are being received well as we expand with greater technology. We are very excited about the Sophia Symposium and hope you will be able to join us.

With this issue, however, we bid farewell and give deep heart-felt thanks to Amy Upperman for her many years of faithful service to Sancta Sophia and Light of Christ Community Church as website manager, Sophia Online Administrator, and editor of our monthly newsletters. Amy's creativity, professionalism, and dedication to details, not to mention her infectious laughter, will be greatly missed. Please join me as I send blessings and best wishes for success in all your endeavors, Amy.

Jann Aldredge-Clanton, Ph.D.
Sophia and the Christ childRecovering feminine divine names and images gives sacred value to women and girls who have for centuries been excluded, ignored, discounted, even cursed. New Wineskins' worship services are affirmative action for the human and Divine Feminine. Imaging God in female terms promotes change that brings true equality and dignity to women.

Our worship services give our city and our society a model of a community that not only welcomes everyone but also affirms the equal value of everyone: female and male, homosexual and heterosexual, black and brown and white. Our worship lays the foundation for equality and justice when we balance divine names: Mother and Father, Sister and Brother, She and He, Christ and Sophia.

The name Christ-Sophia is one of the...

July 2-6
M-F 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Instructor: Carol Parrish
carolA change of subjective boundaries leads to a momentary release of the limitations of the rational approach to daily life, allowing an inner movement in how we perceive, see and understand situations. This rearrangement lifts us beyond understanding and into a new love for which we are waiting. Christians are taught to love by Christ, but not so many really expand their heart and come to know what this truly means. Mysticism is the next step beyond sensitivity, whether we understand it or not. There is a process developing in each of us: Awakening-Illumination-and Enlightenment. Let us ponder the process together and see, if indeed, we can love with a new love.

Cost: $275

Head with colorsStepping up, standing in the Unknowing, vulnerable, again and again. Where do we find the strength to do this? Where do we find the knowledge, the fortitude, the illumination, in order to do this? We live in a world of energy and force. We always have. There are ancient tools, techniques, constructs that we use unconsciously or consciously. Where are the subtle tools for the more subtle work? What is the Lighted House wherein we are to dwell while dealing with an apparently more and more distorted world? This class will ask many questions of each other and of our inner and outer world.

Cost: $300 (3 credits)

Fri: 7:00-9:00 p.m, Sat & Sun: 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Instructor: William Meader
William MeaderDue to its tendency to dismiss intuition, the mind has been called the Slayer of the Real. Though this title has merit, it is, however, only a half-truth, for the mind is also humanity's greatest gift. When rightly used, human thought has the power to reveal the soul's wisdom. It is therefore equally true to say that it is the Revealer of the Real. In this workshop, William Meader will discuss the mind's role as the agent for the soul's intuitions, as well as the importance of "holding the mind steady in the light."

Cost: $175
