From the Dean's Desk. . .

Recently I was reminded of the multivalent beauty of the labyrinth. Not only do its curved lines themselves produce an aesthetic design which graces our visual perception, but the full purpose and intention of the labyrinth graces our soul. Not a new creation by any means, the labyrinth has served spiritual seekers for centuries since ancient Grecian times. This graceful structure is different from a maze; the maze is a puzzle series of choices with most leading to dead ends while the labyrinth has only one clear pathway to the center and back out again. The labyrinth is a wonderful and mystical parallel to our life's journey. While we may take many different turns along our way with some of those turns seeming to take us away from our goal at the center, if we stay on the path we will ultimately reach the center. It is at the center of our being, of our life, and of our meditations that we find God. Walking a labyrinth is a kinesthetic form of prayer and meditation. However we choose to center ourselves and connect with the Divine, we will receive the guidance and peace that we seek. The Holy One(s) is always available to us. . .sometimes waiting to be discovered in a class at Sancta Sophia!

Alumni News
Been wondering how to share your gifts and knowledge gained at Sancta Sophia? You might consider teaching at a Community College in your area like alumni Rev. Barbara Everett and Rev. Susan Shopek are doing. Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN is the setting where Barbara Everett is offering a three week series on our basic understanding of spiritual evolution. She is introducing the seven planes of consciousness and then the seven rays from the esoteric teachings. Susan Shopek is offering a four week series at Normandale on Numerology helping students understand the significance and power in their name and birth date for their daily lives. These two women are pioneering into the secular and academic world bringing the wonderful teachings they gleaned from their studies at Sancta Sophia. We are grateful for their courage and willingness to meet students who are ready for these ancient teachings in such a public setting. Surely the time has come when more are awakening and seeking what we can offer. Great work Barbara and Susan; go and share Sophia's wisdom with our blessings!

Wendy StorkAlumni members, we are looking for news about your activities.  If you would like to share what you are doing in your community, please contact me at wm_stork@yahoo.com. It is a way of sharing our lives with one another; a lot like we do during Professional Sharing at Conference, but on a more frequent basis.

Blessings to you all, Rev. Wendy Stork.

Jon MundySince its release in 1976, A Course in Miracles has come to be regarded as a modern spiritual classic and a great work of art. It has sold more than 2.2 million copies and it now exists in 21 different languages. As "truth is true," it should not surprise us to hear that what the Course says is not new, a host of different mystics, masters, saints, and sages from different faiths and different ages have been saying the same thing for a millennium. What is unique about the Course is its level of psychological sophistication. It is truly a document of the 20th and 21st centuries. Throughout this week-long course, we'll compare the insights of the mystics with the teaching of the Course. We'll explain what mysticism is, and then identify many of the characteristics of mystical experiences including: the loss of subject/object identity, timelessness, "egolessness," and experiences of wonder, awe, reverence, freedom, happiness, and bliss. We'll also delve into the lives, experiences, and teachings of a number of history's greatest mystics.

refracted lightWisdom Teachings tell us that at the most basic level, there is One Energy - One God - One Source - of all life. But within the Cosmic Physical Plane, the One Energy is differentiated into Seven Great Streams that qualify all of life within and around us. Exploring the Seven Great Streams (the Seven Rays) helps to deepen our awareness and our understanding of the Divine Energies in which we live and move and have our being. During this class, each participant will be guided to identify their 3-fold personality ray profile, to produce a chart of their ray pattern, and thus to gain insight into the qualities, lessons, goals, strengths, and weaknesses of the subtle composite through which soul seeks to express itself in the material world.
