Mantras

A practice group for the chanting of mantras in Irdin. This work comes through the teachings of Jose Trigueirinho. Irdin is a sacred language, not for conversation. Its sounds have the power to help shape the etheric structure needed for the action of the evolutionary energies that work in the cosmos. The practice carries with it the qualities of devotion, silence and service.

open door to new world"The New Age is upon us and we are witnessing the birth pangs of the new culture and the new civilization. That which is old and undesirable must go...hatred and the spirit of separateness must be first to disappear."

Alice Bailey, Discipleship in the New Age, Vol. 2

Greetings,

Happy New Year!  What do you hope 2012 brings?  Whether one looks at Hindu texts or the Mayan calendar or Bible prophesy or Native American predictions, everyone seems to have an opinion about the coming year and the coming age. There are so many theories, sometimes it is hard to avoid being distracted by illusion, fear, or maya. Phrases like "the end of the world as we know it" allow for a wide range of interpretations, don't they?

The five Sunday speakers featured at LCCC this month invite us to ponder New Year's resolutions and to welcome shifts in consciousness. Beginning with the Epiphany and a New Year of Light and Love, we consider how we share our gifts. We move next to the Baptism of Our Lord Sunday and think about renewal and rededication for the coming year.

Week 3 encourages people on the path to recognize the call to service -- and to discern when we should answer that call. January 22nd uses silence, chanting and singing to commune with our Higher Source as we honestly express the joys and sorrows of life that we hold within our hearts. The last Sunday, we, as people of vision, will explore our beliefs about the future being open and expectant.

Many people at the Light of Christ Community Church Conference last November enjoyed a lively and stimulating discussion about the wisdom of 2012 lead by Rev. Mary Jane Dicus. Now there is a unique opportunity to share in her research through an online web class called "Wisdom of 2012: the Grace of Chaos," offered four Monday nights starting January 9th. Additionally, an interesting new book by Carol E. Parrish-Hara, Remember to Remember: The Mayan Mysteries, is available from Sophia's Nest Bookstore.

As LCCC and Sancta Sophia Seminary stand in the dawning light of this new year, we invite you to walk with us in fellowship and love. Visit us on a Sunday; take a class here in Sparrow Hawk Village, over the phone or online; and order from the Bookstore. You are always welcome.

Blessings,
All the ministers at Light of Christ Community Church

New Year's Day & Epiphany Sunday

"New Year of Light and Love"

Rev. Tom Simota

Tom SimotaOn this special Sunday, we reflect on both the New Year and Epiphany. The word Epiphany comes from the Greek meaning "to appear" or "to be shown forth" -- during this time of new beginnings, we might consider how we share our gifts...the Light of our Soul Star...the Love in our Hearts. What does it mean to be a Disciple of Light and Love? How do we become even more receptive to the monadic impulse? As we join together in spiritual community, may we share insights as we invoke Wisdom to guide us in 2012.

Baptism of the Lord Sunday

"Purify, Renew and Re-Dedicate"

Pastor Retha Banez

Rev. Retha BanezThree years ago, Pastor Banez began a new tradition of offering baptism renewals at Light of Christ Community Church on Baptism of the Lord Sunday. This special Sunday in the church year is celebrated on the Sunday after Epiphany. We remember Jesus today, both from an exoteric and esoteric point of view, as he entered into the River Jordon receiving a baptism of both water and fire, passing through his second initiation and embodying the Christ Presence for his three-year ministry on Earth. Today we also remember our own baptism into the Body of Christ. Pastor Banez invites you to wear white and participate in a Baptism Renewal Ritual within our church service, giving us all an opportunity to purify, renew, and re-dedicate our lives in service to the Christ and humanity.

"Because You Asked"

Rev. Roberta Wilkes

Roberta WilkesAs Spiritual Seekers, students and ministers, we are often asked to serve. We know that to be a fact. What can we do to better recognize the call to service - and to discern when we should answer that call?

"A Psalm is a Psalm - Or is It?"

 Rev. Mary Jane Dicus

Mary Jane DicusI can remember being introduced to the psalms as a young girl. I knew they were different from other books of the Bible, but what exactly are the psalms? This book even had different names throughout time. The Latin root word, psalmos, means song of praise. The most ancient Hebrew word used for the text, tepilith, means prayer. Today we will look at the psalms as our ancestors' words of praise, anger and lament shared with their God. During this service, we will use contemplative silence, chanting and singing several different interpretations of the psalms to commune with our God as we honestly express the joys and sorrows of life that we hold within our hearts.

"Another Day in Paradise!"

Rev. Peggy Eaton

Peggy Eaton"Soulseeds" web site told of the author's [Ian Lawton] family fighting over a drinking glass that had the caption: "Jesus is coming. Look busy!" Who can blame them ... the talk of "end times," "2012," "Judgment Day," and on and on. We, and intentional folks of the path to Oneness with our Eternal Creator, are giving up the fear-based thinking and are moving toward "the prize of fearless living." As spiritual practitioners, we are learning to be, to breathe, to celebrate the temporary -- to cherish the "flashes," the "goose-bumps," and the fleeting "visions." We, as people of vision, will explore our beliefs about the future being OPEN and naming the ways that today is, indeed, another day in paradise.

Prayer Shawl Group, First Thursday,

Helena Messenger's Home, 6:00 p.m.

For comfort, the Prayer Shawl Group still sponsored by LCCC, has decided to hold their monthly gathering in Helena Messenger's home at a new time. The group meets to knit and crochet shawls and lap blankets with prayers, love and good wishes for those who would benefit from these comforting items.

Once a year on Thanksgiving Sunday, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, they bring these items to church to bless them in a special ritual during the church service. As their service work, the shawls and lap blankets are then delivered to nursing homes, oncology units and other locations in need.

All are welcome to join them, including beginners and advanced needle workers. They are interested in teaching those who wish to learn to crochet or knit.

January 10

Monthly Wellness Center Healing Circle, Second Tuesday,

Wellness Center, 6:30 p.m.

Book Study Group

The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace,

Bookstore, 7:00 p.m.

LCCC is sponsoring an ongoing book study group to be facilitated by various members. The first book study to be led by Hanna Vessey is on M. Scott Peck's, "The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace."  The group will meet twice a month in our village bookstore, Sophia's Nest, for about one hour. Group members are asked to meet at least once per month. The dates chosen to discuss the first book are Tuesday, January 10 - Part I at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28 - Part II at 10:00 a.m., and Tuesday, February 7 - Part III at 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in participating, please contact Issac Porter to order a copy of the book.

January 19

Monthly Toning Healing Circle, Third Thursday,

Sanctuary, 6:30 p.m.

Those who participate in the toning circle come together for the purpose of experiencing the vibrational qualities of our crystal toning bowls, the healing power of chanting and the haunting sound of the free notes. Participants can choose to surround themselves with the energy of one individual toning device, or experience them all at once. Most importantly, the presence of each individual adds to the power of the group. All are invited to join in this experience.

January 22

Orin Meditation Group, Fourth Sunday,

Sanctuary, 1:00 p.m.

Join the meditation group that holds short group meditations guided by channeled visualizations and meditation from the Orin material. Rev. Maggie Webb Adams-Karjens from Iowa introduced this material to seven village folks about two years ago. The group believes these meditations have drawn the attention of those [in body and in spirit] who are in alignment with the higher plan by attracting people, resources and those with a servant heart to assist the journey of Light of Christ Community Church, Sancta Sophia Seminary and Sparrow Hawk Village.

If you are interested in meditating with a group of like-minded individuals, to add your positive energies to the healing and restoration of all levels of consciousness, humanity, Mother Earth and the solar systems beyond us -- come join us in body or in spirit. We welcome all to unite in our efforts to send out a positive, healing vibration into the ethers.

Blessings of the Cosmos Group,

Sanctuary, 6:30 p.m.

Pastor Retha Banez invites all who would like to participate in a monthly group called "Blessings of the Cosmos," based on the Neil Douglas-Klotz Aramaic work highlighting nearly two dozen of Jesus' most powerful benedictions. His book reminds us that each one is a promise that "every person might become a son or daughter of God, living in wisdom and compassion, as Jesus did." Join Pastor Banez as she leads us through one of these powerful blessings each time we meet accompanied by a beautiful, guided body prayer. We are also working with and practicing the Aramaic Lord's Prayer.

The Celestial Hierarchy of Capricorn

Capricorn by Johfra
Capricorn by Johfra

The Celestial Hierarchy of Capricorn, identified as the Archangels, or the Cloud of Silent Watchers, rules from December 21 to January 20. Within its loving care, Earth experiences the highest vibration of the annual cycle. Lord Christ enters the very heart of the planet, and the archangels and angelic choruses burst into song. Remember, winter solstice occurs as the planet moves from Sagittarius to Capricorn, under the initiating influence of the archangels-the archetypal patterns for a divine humanity. Planetary life surges with response --"Yes," is the cry -- as we rejoice in the outpouring of love and light. Awakened humanity seeks to advance on the holy path, coming each year into higher awareness of the hidden work transpiring in the subtle planes

As this cycle occurs annually, the Christ Light bathes Earth from deep within her heart, and the planet changes. New impulses are felt, and the planet's vibrations quicken as healing infuses her. As Earth vibrates a bit higher each year, she is transforming into a planet of peace, love, and universal appreciation -- a redemptive work. Awakened ones participate with the angels and archangels in a time of rejoicing to magnify the high energy and step it down from the etheric and astral levels to the physical plane itself.
