Greetings!

It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of Lucille Perry on November 23, 2011. Lucille made her transition peacefully at home with a few friends at her side. She received excellent care over the last five years, and that compassionate assistance allowed her to remain at home where she wanted to be.

A memorial service honoring the life of Lucille Perry is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 6th at 6:30 p.m. at Light of Christ Community Church in Tahlequah, OK. Lucille is survived by her sister, Laura Cook of Kentucky and several nieces and nephews. Lucille sustained an ongoing loving relationship with Jimmy and Ola Perry of Tennessee, H.J. Perry's brother and sister-in-law.

Many students and visitors to Sparrow Hawk Village experienced the gracious hospitality of Lucille and H.J. Perry over the years. They welcomed strangers into their home believing that all were soon to become their good friends. The Perry's loving reception always made that prediction come true.

Both from Kentucky, Lucille and H.J. married on December 24, 1949, and together they worked for the Veterans Administration for many years. Eventually, they retired from the VA to walk the beaches of St. Augustine, FL and volunteer at a local hospital.

The Perry's arrived in Tahlequah on Thanksgiving Day, 1986, and Lucille assumed the role as secretary to Carol Parrish in 1987. The two women worked side-by-side for eleven years until Lucille once again retired in July 1998.

Lucille and her beloved husband renewed their marriage vows in the sanctuary on December 24, 1989. Every Christmas Eve, the entire Village was invited to their annual anniversary party, and Lucille's cooking was greatly appreciated by all.

Lucille was an active member of LCCC, spearheading the church renovation project in 2003-2004. She regularly attended the Saturday morning Aquarian Rosary lead by Carol and H.J. with Lucille making sure everyone kept up the fast pace!

Rev. H.J. Perry made his transition in October 2006, less than a year after Lucille suffered a stroke. Now Lucille has joined him, and we can smile at the thought of their reunion.

Lucille with balloonsLucille Perry celebrated her 90th birthday on November 16. Right until the end, Lucille was a role model for living life with an open heart, and we will always love her.

A memorial fund in the name of Lucille G. Perry has been established with Light of Christ Community Church. Donations in her honor can be sent to 22 Summit Ridge Drive, Tahlequah, OK 74464.
