A practice group for the chanting of mantras in Irdin. This work comes through the teachings of Jose Trigueirinho. Irdin is a sacred language, not for conversation. Its sounds have the power to help shape the etheric structure needed for the action of the evolutionary energies that work in the cosmos. The practice carries with it the qualities of devotion, silence and service.

Ye Are the Light of the World

We believe that each individual must shine personal light and live a life of honesty, nobility, simplicity, and justice.

from Tenets of Light of Christ Community Church

Greetings,

This month our presenters, events, workshops, and classes all reflect LCCC's affirmation that each of us can and must shine our personal light.

Part of that light shines through the 30 candles on LCCC's birthday cake. This month we are celebrating thirty years since Carol Parrish, Charles Harra, and Grace Bradley established the church on top of Sparrow Hawk Mountain, and we're hoping for some birthday presents!  To view a "wish list" of things the church needs, click here, and please consider sending a donation as we celebrate thirty years of service. Thank you.

The first Sunday of the month traditionally marks the Ascension, and we ponder how to live our lives as great souls have modeled for us. On Pentecost Sunday we beckon the Holy Spirit to ignite all we do with hope and renewal. Father's Day shines a light on the responsibility of fathers and honors that role in each life. The final Sunday asks the burning question: "What's love got to do with it?" Come and be en-light-ened this month!

There are two very special services this month preparing us to receive the energies of the third Spring Festival, the Full Moon of Gemini, followed by Summer Solstice a week later. Note dates and times as listed on the left.

Sancta Sophia's June schedule offers a wealth of healing classes, ending with "Counseling Techniques for Personal Transformation". This old favorite has many new variations as several techniques and aspects of pastoral care are updated and revised to address current needs of ministers and chaplains. Contact the Register for more detailed information.

July classes are all about you!  Speaking about old favorites: have you attended Intuitive Development? Take those concepts and skills to the next level and let your light shine for others, July 6-10, in "The Science of Impression and Its Public Expression." The following week come explore how sound and vibration play an important role in "Music and the Evolving Consciousness" as demonstrated through master musicians, composers and even us!

The last two weeks in July the stars shine bright during "Higher Self Astrology I and III". July 18-22 is a good week to begin observing yourself through the lens of this divine science. The second week is an advanced Astrology class for those who have already studied the topic and want more.

If any of these classes or the events listed below and to the left sound intriguing to you, come for a visit and relax in natural beauty. The birds seem to be singing for joy and more fawns are emerging every day! Come shine your light in the safety and comfort of Sparrow Hawk Village. As it states on the front wall of the sanctuary: "Ye are the light of the world."

Blessings,
All the ministers at Light of Christ Community Church

Ascension Sunday

"Tell Me Something I Don't Know!"

Rev. Mark Throckmorton

Mark ThrockmortonAt the Ascension, Jesus gives his disciples commands and assurances. Nothing he said was new information to them. I had a similar experience listening to the Dalai Lama, Sister Prejean, and Vincent Harding: I had heard it all before. How do we activate these teachings in our own lives as these great souls have?

Pentecost Sunday

"Come, Holy Spirit, Come!"

Pastor Retha Banez
Pastor Retha BanezPentecost Sunday falls 50 days (the seventh Sunday) after Easter, celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, which marks the end of the Easter season in the Christian year. Christ promised His Apostles that He would send his Holy Spirit, and on Pentecost, the Hebrew Feast of Weeks (Shavuot), tongues of fire descended over each one, granting them the gifts of the Holy Spirit. With the descent of the Holy Spirit, Christ's mission was completed and his new covenant inaugurated. Wear red and join us for this sacred time of hope and renewal of purpose and mission. We celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives: making God dynamic and present in our hearts.

Father's Day & Trinity Sunday

"The Responsibilities of Fathers"

Rev. Steven Chase & Friends

Steve ChaseTorkom Saraydarian writes about the esoteric role of the father, stating, "Each child needs a masculine presence in order to build himself. Preferably, it should be a presence that is related to his blood and bones. If this is not possible, the role of the masculine presence can be filled by a close teacher, priest, or doctor. ... Both boys and girls look to their father in the process of building their minds and personalities." Along with Rev. Mark Throckmorton and John Banez, time will be provided for the congregation to share some stories during a reflection and celebration on fathers and fathering. Please bring pictures of fathers, grandfathers, sons and father figures to decorate our altar.

"What's Love Got to Do with It?"

Rev. Mary Jane Dicus

Mary Jane Dicus"There's something happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear" -- Buffalo Springfield

In these turbulent times in which we live, it is easy to become distracted, fearful and confused. It is increasingly important to be able to focus our energies to move in harmony with the plan of evolution. So where does love fit into the picture? This magnetic flow of vital energy is the force that unifies and draws things together, even when the world seems to be falling apart. Come and listen with your heart as we explore how love underlies the happenings of the times.

June 2

Prayer Shawl Group, First Thursday, Fellowship Hall, 7:00 p.m.

The prayer shawl group meets to knit and crochet shawls and lap blankets with prayers, love and good wishes for those who would benefit from these comfort items.

Once a year we gather these items at our November Sunday Blessing service and take them to nursing homes, oncology units and the like as our service work.

All are welcome to join us, beginners and advanced needle workers. We are interested in teaching those who wish to learn to crochet or knit.

June 16
Monthly Toning Healing Circle, Third Thursday, 7:00 p.m.

Those who participate in the toning circle come together for the purpose of experiencing the vibrational qualities of our crystal toning bowls, the healing power of chanting and the haunting sound of the free notes. Participants can choose to surround themselves with the energy of one individual toning device, or experience them all at once. Most importantly, the presence of each individual adds to the power of the group. All are invited to join in this experience.

June 26

Orin Meditation Group, Fourth Sunday, Sanctuary, 1:00 p.m.

Join the meditation group that holds short group meditations guided by channeled visualizations and meditation from the Orin material. Rev. Maggie Webb Adams-Karjens from Iowa, introduced this material to seven village folks about two years ago. The group believes these meditations have drawn the attention of those [in body and in spirit] who are in alignment with the higher plan by attracting people, resources and those with a servant heart to assist the journey of Light of Christ Community Church, Sancta Sophia Seminary and Sparrow Hawk Village.

If you are interested in meditating with a group of like-minded individuals, to add your positive energies to the healing and restoration of all levels of consciousness, humanity, Mother Earth and the solar systems beyond us -- come join us in body or in spirit. We welcome all to unite in our efforts to send out a positive, healing vibration into the ethers.

June 28

Blessings of the Cosmos Group, Thursday, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m.

Pastor Retha Banez invites all who would like to participate in a monthly group called "Blessings of the Cosmos," based on the Neil Douglas-Klotz Aramaic work highlighting nearly two dozen of Jesus' most powerful benedictions. His book reminds us that each one is a promise that "every person might become a son or daughter of God, living in wisdom and compassion, as Jesus did." Join Pastor Banez as she leads us through one of these powerful blessings each time we meet accompanied by a beautiful, guided body prayer.

The Celestial Hierarchy of Gemini

Gemini by Johfra
Gemini by Johfra

The Celestial Hierarchy of Gemini rules from May 21 to June 21. Also known as the Lords of Mercury, and the Seraphim, the grandeur and power of this hierarchy surpasses all description. The Mercurian influence is designed to explore duality with the intent of participating in the reconciliation of spirit and matter. When initiates vibrate to the presence of these mighty Seraphim, they begin to understand the interaction between masculine and feminine, yin and yang that animates everything from atom to planet. Gemini holds the cosmic pattern of the perfect androgyny, with masculine and feminine potencies equal-the goal of initiates of the greater Christ mysteries.

At the Festival of Humanity, occurring in the period empowered by the hierarchy of Gemini, the Lords of Mercury help those who strive for holiness become aware of the mysterious hidden potential of unconditional love we call the Christ-Within. They lead us to the initiatory work of aligning our mind to Higher Mind. Such an opportunity also challenges us to bring the two parts of self-personality and soul-into a co-working relationship. This uplifting impulse inspires aspirants to make themselves more and more open to subtle impressions and in turn draws the brain, the mind, and the intuition into attunement to the Cloud of Knowable Things.
