LCCC Schedule of Events Mantras 7:00 a.m., Monday - Saturday
A practice group for the chanting of mantras in Irdin. This work comes through the teachings of Jose Trigueirinho. Irdin is a sacred language, not for conversation. Its sounds have the power to help shape the etheric structure needed for the action of the evolutionary energies that work in the cosmos. The practice carries with it the qualities of devotion, silence and service.

The full moon of Taurus in May marks the Celebration of Wesak. At Light of Christ Community Church, Wesak is not just a tribute to an event that happened once, but rather a yearly recurring expression of divine purpose coming through the Buddha, cooperating at the Festival with his brother, the Christ. In mutual service to humanity, the Buddha and the Christ bring about a significant linking that blends East and West.
Greetings,
What a spring it has been across the country with Mother Nature combining the mysteries of water and fire in a mixture of weather that challenges us all to remember that Love underlies the happenings of the time. We have been blessed in Sparrow Hawk Village as storms, fires, winds and floods have swirled around us, but left relatively little impression on our community. As we pray for those less fortunate, we send love and healing out to areas where there has been terrible loss of life and great destruction.
Life here not only goes on, but is abundant with exciting events, classes and workshops. Please note the additional activities being hosted by LCCC (see Connect Groups below) as it continues to address the needs and requests of the local spiritual community as well as our larger spiritual family across the country.
Sparrow Hawk Villagers are speaking about what stirs spiritual fervor in their lives. The first Sunday of May features a discussion on employing mantras to reach our higher connection. The following Sunday highlights mothers wishing for peace in all its forms. The day before the Wesak Festival (the most potent full moon of the year), we look at parallel teachings of the Buddha and the Christ and the truth they carry. The last Sunday of May marks an important celebration for LCCC: its 30th Birthday! This day (traditionally called Hat Sunday) combines Memorial Day and honoring LCCC's thirty year journey to which so many people have contributed.
During the weeks of May, Sancta Sophia features great classes and workshops, starting with Living the Qabalah, then Esoteric Secrets on May 13-14, and culminating with Renewal/Revitalization for Body-Mind-Spirit, May 16-20. June promises to be a very full month with lots of classes about Healing on all levels. Come and participate!
Blessings, All the ministers at Light of Christ Community Church

"Mantras, Our Higher Connection"
David Cutrell

Our daily spiritual life has several aspects: feeding that inner flame and going deeper within through prayer and meditation, renewing our commitment to being a more full expression of our soul, etc. Today we will explore yet another tool for daily life, that of repeating and singing mantras. Mantras can be a powerful tool for transforming our lives. Let's explore them together.

Sunday, May 8, 10:30 a.m. Mother's Day Sunday
"Mother's Day Wishes" Pastor Retha Banez & Rev. Marilyn Szoko
It is fitting that on Mothers' Day we reflect on the social application of motherhood -- peace. Mothers' Day, contrary to popular wisdom, was not invented by the Florists' Association; nor by the telephone company. Mothers' Day was invented by a mother protesting the killing of World War I. She convinced other mothers to protest, too, and pretty soon Congress got in the act. Finally, President Woodrow Wilson pronounced the second Sunday in May as Mothers' Day, a day dedicated not to honoring mothers, but to honoring their wishes -- that the killing be stopped. Again, all of these years later, mother's hold the same wish in their hearts. We keep the "PEACE" of Mothers' Day when we recall we all have or had a mother who agreed to be our mother.

CONNECT GROUPS

May 5
Prayer Shawl Group, First Thursday, Fellowship Hall, 7:00 p.m.
The prayer shawl group meets to knit and crochet shawls and lap blankets with prayers, love and good wishes for those who would benefit from these comfort items.
Once a year we gather these items at our November Sunday Blessing service and take them to nursing homes, oncology units and the like as our service work.
All are welcome to join us, beginners and advanced needle workers. We are interested in teaching those who wish to learn to crochet or knit.
May 19 Monthly Toning Healing Circle, Third Thursday, 7:00 p.m.
Those who participate in the toning circle come together for the purpose of experiencing the vibrational qualities of our crystal toning bowls, the healing power of chanting and the haunting sound of the free notes. Participants can choose to surround themselves with the energy of one individual toning device, or experience them all at once. Most importantly, the presence of each individual adds to the power of the group. All are invited to join in this experience.
May 22
Orin Meditation Group, Fourth Sunday, Sanctuary, 1:00 p.m.
Join the meditation group that holds short group meditations guided by channeled visualizations and meditation from the Orin material. Rev. Maggie Webb Adams-Karjens from Iowa, introduced this material to seven village folks about two years ago. The group believes these meditations have drawn the attention of those [in body and in spirit] who are in alignment with the higher plan by attracting people, resources and those with a servant heart to assist the journey of Light of Christ Community Church, Sancta Sophia Seminary and Sparrow Hawk Village.
If you are interested in meditating with a group of like-minded individuals, to add your positive energies to the healing and restoration of all levels of consciousness, humanity, Mother Earth and the solar systems beyond us -- come join us in body or in spirit. We welcome all to unite in our efforts to send out a positive, healing vibration into the ethers.
May 26
Blessings of the Cosmos Group, Thursday, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m.
Pastor Retha Banez invites all who would like to participate in a monthly group called "Blessings of the Cosmos," based on the Neil Douglas-Klotz Aramaic work highlighting nearly two dozen of Jesus' most powerful benedictions. His book reminds us that each one is a promise that "every person might become a son or daughter of God, living in wisdom and compassion, as Jesus did." Join Pastor Banez as she leads us through one of these powerful blessings each time we meet accompanied by a beautiful, guided body prayer.

The Celestial Hierarchy of Taurus
 | Taurus by Johfra |
The Celestial Hierarchy of Taurus, ruling from April 20 through May 21, holds the cosmic pattern for all earthly forms. These holy ones are so exalted; the name of the hierarchy is unidentified (although sometimes called the Thrones). They are known through the works they perform for humanity and the Lords of Karma work under them. Taurus has been called the Earth Mother sign-the energy of the Divine Feminine permeates all planetary life. Our appreciation of nature can either become possessive and materialistic, or transmute personal love into love of life and natural beauty. The threat of possessiveness clues us in to the karmic challenges to be overcome. If love is thus distorted, the lessons come bringing disappointment, discord, and sorrow.
The celestial hierarchy of Taurus wants no personal attention and gives no personal contact. Devoted to the laws of life, these Lords wield their power wisely. Each touch they offer uplifts the passionate feeling nature to serve the soul purpose. These wise influences help souls between lives select experiences that will bear good fruit. The gentle yet powerful Lords who work through Taurus emit a musical language, fashioning the world of forms through the use of tone, so we relate to these Lords through the healing powers of music and vibration, as well as through light, and thoughtforms.
