Greetings,
We know you've been patiently (or impatiently) waiting for Sancta Sophia's full 2011 class descriptions and we're happy to tell you that the Spring Session is now online. We have many tantalizing options from which to choose, including the required courses for our current students and several advanced offerings for our ministers and teachers, and for all who are interested in digging into the deeper well of ancient wisdom. Risa D'Angeles and Alexis Harvey initiate the Spring Session with Understanding Our Moment in History: Our Purpose and Our Responsibility. Our new Dean, Rev. Dr. Susan C. Hamilton, is teaching on the subject of The Emerging Progressive Theology at Graduate Trimester I. Remember, this course is open to non-graduate students and also includes two optional afternoon sessions with the instructor. In her ongoing series of teleconference courses, Conversations with Carol, Carol Parrish offers her fifth set of six-week classes. This time she will share her knowledge of the Maya, 2012 prophecies and predictions and the future human. And for those who enjoy moving meditation or need to move into their body, we have a special weekend workshop 5 Rhythms Waves Danceshop and Planetary Gong Journey with Visudha de los Santos. These are just a few of the classes that kick off the year. To view the complete Spring Session schedule, take a look at the Upcoming Classes in the left column and click on the highlighted and underlined link for each class or click here to view the complete Spring Session. The Summer Session and Fall Session of classes will be updated for 2011 and posted online later this week. You'll be the first to see them, if you check back and use the links provided above! With so many interesting courses from which to choose, we don't think you'll be able to pick just one. Please feel free to contact Outreach by email at information@sanctasophia.org or call 918-456-3421 or toll free 800-386-7161. Bonita will be happy to answer your questions and help design a personally enriching educational experience for you with comfortable accommodations. February 14 - 18 Understanding Our Moment in History:Our Purpose and Our ResponsibilityRisa D'Angeles and Alexis Harvey
As we study, learn, collaborate, review, read, research, cook and eat together from early morning to late at night, we create a model of the new Aquarian community, a template for the new culture and civilization. Through studying the history of humanity's development, we will formulate an understanding of the present and future, the new kingdom being born, and humanity's destined responsibility to the other kingdoms. Some subjects introduced: Alice Bailey and the Tibetan; Esotericism as Relationship; Astrology, Personality, Soul; The Rays; Building the Antahkarana; Meditation; New Aquarian Age Laws and Principles; Service; Findhorn, Transition Town, Sustainability; The New Materiality; and Education in the New Age. | Angel Cards |
"Heartfelt understanding of the human condition that encompasses the pain in oneself and others, dissolves judgment and opens the way for acceptance. A sincere desire to alleviate suffering."-Angel Cards Compassion is an energetic emanation from the essential part of us that holds the 'will to good'. We are in constant connection with those around us through our energetic imprints. Everything we touch is imbued with our signature. The more intentional we are, the longer our signature lingers and the greater the influence of our touch. The same is true of our thoughts and feelings, the stronger and more repetitive, the longer they 'live'. Read more

February 19Graduate Program Orientation for New Students February 21 - 25GRADUATE PROGRAM TRIMESTER I:CHRISTIAN THEOLOGYThe Emerging Progressive TheologyRev. Dr. Susan Hamilton
The work of John Dominic Crossan and Marcus Borg offers us a way to embrace both mainline Christianity and the ancient esoteric teachings of spirituality in an authentic way. With "Progressive Theology" we no longer have to choose one over the over, but can learn to integrate and articulate our personal journey of transformation along with our outward service in transforming the world.
Explore the social, political, and historical world of ancient Palestine and engage with biblical texts, discovering their application to our times. With many becoming increasingly uncomfortable using the label of "Christian", this week will offer a new perspective on one's commitment to being a disciple of Christ serving God's plan on earth. Resources for further reading and adult study groups will be provided. Article: Jesus for the Non-Religious
By Bishop John Shelby Spong
Most Christians seem to assume that the details of their faith system dropped out of heaven in a fully developed form. Nothing could be further from the truth. The creeds began as baptismal formulas in the 3rd century and did not receive the shape we now recognize until the 4th century. Doctrines like the Trinity and Incarnation were still being formed in the 5th century. Moving closer to the life of Jesus, scholars now suggest that miracles were added to the Jesus story only in the 7th and 8th decades of the Christian era. The Virgin birth and the suggestion that resurrection meant physical resuscitation are products of the 9th decade, and the account of Jesus' ascension enters the tradition only in the 10th decade. Perhaps the biggest gap in our knowledge of Jesus, however, occurs... WEEKEND WORKSHOP 5 Rhythms™ Waves Danceshop and Planetary Gong JourneyVisudha de los Santos
Gabrielle Roth's 5 Rhythms™ is a practice; a meditation of listening to and moving our bodies in order to deepen our awareness and transform our lives. Powerfully and simply, the rhythms help us to be fully embodied, and to manifest the essential selves. At its most basic level this is a physical practice of moving the body through a 'Wave,' in which we explore five distinct rhythms. Awakening the body, heart and spirit, we release our minds into trust, and the flowing state. In this way we remember our own natural rhythms, and engage life more authentically. Being based in the infinite wisdom of our bodies, there are no steps to learn. No dance experience is necessary. Dance - a metaphor for life. Sun. night: "Gong Journey": Using planetary gongs, transformational healing waves of sound are created that will soothe, inspire and heal your spirit. Learn more
