The quiet that comes in the momentary stillness of our advent practice affords us the luxury to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of holiday chores and activities. It provides an opportunity to view the BIG Picture and appreciate how fortunate we are to live in this time and this place in history. An understanding of the levels of the Christ message speaks to both the personality and the soul. Wherever we are on the continuous spiral of human evolution and spiritual development, the Light of Christ emanates both comfort and joy.
Greetings,
December is always a special time at Light of Christ Community Church as Advent begins and we prepare for the birth of the Christ child in our hearts. At morning meditation we read the nativity scriptures from The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ, and the familiar story takes on deeper meaning. At Winter Solstice we celebrate the return of the Sun (Son) as the planet is flooded by holy Light. There is expectancy in the air as we light the Advent candles, collect food for the less fortunate, and pray for peace on New Year's Eve. We go caroling, have parties, share holiday dinners, and rejoice in being together as family.
Won't you come visit us for an Advent Sunday or to enjoy the "Music of the Holiday Season"? We'll look for you at the Solstice service or our beautiful candlelight Christmas Eve celebration. Check the list of activities to the left and below, and consider joining us to enhance your own spiritual energy during this sacred season. Since we do not have classes in December or January, housing is available in the Villa, if you want to stay a night or two. May your heart be filled with Joy and Peace during this Season of Light,
All the ministers at Light of Christ Community Church

Sunday, December 5, 10:30 a.m. Second Sunday of Advent
"Purification, Preparation and New Beginnings" Rev. Robert Willson & Rev. Cynthia McGinnis
This Sunday we will celebrate the New Moon of Sagittarius and highlight the characteristics of this special new Moon and the virtue of Sagittarius, harmlessness, with the second Sunday of Advent theme of purification and preparation as we prepare ourselves for the holy birth. How might we synthesize these two together?

Sunday, December 12, 10:30 a.m. Third Sunday of Advent
"Joy...The Hope of the World" Rev. Roberta Wilkes
As we approach the birth of the Hope of the World, we are surrounded by JOY. Although sometimes intangible, we can almost taste this special grace as it falls around us, bringing us renewed hope for all things good. We know that truly all things are possible as we feel the excitement and we draw nearer to the blessed event.

Sunday, December 19, 10:30 a.m. Fourth Sunday of Advent
"The Path of Love" Rev. Retha Banez & Rev. Steven Chase
The last four weeks of Advent have taken us on an inward journey of reflection preparing us for the rebirth of Christ within the heart of the earth and within each one of us. Our hearts are open as we walk upon the Way, The Path of Love demonstrated in the life of Master Jesus. Alice Bailey reminds us, "Until Christ came and lived a life of love and service and gave men the new command to love one another, there had been very little emphasis upon God as Love in any of the world Scriptures. After He had come as the Avatar of Love, then God became known as love supernal, love as the goal and objective of creation, love as the basic principle of relationship and love as working throughout all manifestation towards a Plan motivated by love. This divine quality, Christ revealed and emphasized and thus altered all human living, goals and values." Gather together with us on this Fourth Sunday of Advent as we prepare to enter into the very sacred week of the holy birth bathed in the love and golden light of the Christ.

Sunday, December 26, 10:30 a.m.
"Redeeming Redemption" Rev. Sue Van Dyke
Being an avid morning hiker, I frequently entertain myself, much to my dog's distress, by singing show tunes, R & B songs, and hymns. Crooning the top 25 hymn parade one day, which included a well known song about redemption, I stopped mid stanza and realized that I no longer believed the words I was singing. Had the powerful concept of redemption lost its meaning? Had it been distorted through the years? What is its present meaning and what will redemption morph into as humanity evolves? Come join the exploration. No redeeming coupons needed. Come as you are.

The Celestial Hierarchy of Sagittarius
 | Sagittarius by Johfra |
The Celestial Hierarchy of Sagittarius rules from Nov. 22 to Dec 21. Also called the Lords of Mind, these fiery flashes of consciousness carry the Fiery Mind of God into the ethers of the mental plane and hopefully into the chalice of the unfolding humanmind. Remember, the coworkers, the Lords of Mercury (Gemini), assist in stepping down the flashes of high consciousness from the higher realities to the mind-made-ready within humanity.
The hierarchy of Sagittarius dares us to detach from personality and identify with the inner prompting we sense-the purpose of the Great Work. Humanity is to unfold to become gods: Remember, "ye are gods" (Psalm 82:6, John 10:34). These Lords of Mind rule the higher mind-the mind capable of abstractions-which can expand and come to know in ways little understood as yet. Here at the edge of consciousness, we see the process of the chalice developing, bit-by-bit. The organization of mind-stuff and the levels of mind-in-formation are coming to be. As the chalice is being built, more and more precipitation manifests to be received, grasped, and integrated into the ever-expanding awareness of reality.
During the time Sagittarius rules, the light illumines and expands the reflective ability of the minds it touches: "Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 2:5). Our minds stretch to know Divine Mind. Challenged to be more than seems possible, we respond with a leap of heart.
